Simple function, Awkward fit

I'm 6' tall, 175lbs and the Medium generally fits well (I'm typically a Medium or very big Small). However, the shoulder straps don't get long enough to fit me properly. Most of my height is in my legs, but somehow even with the straps at their longest, the crotch still rides very high on me to the point where I couldn't comfortably layer and squat in these. I like that they have pockets on the front of the thighs, but there is just one fairly small bib pocket, and it has a side entrance (all due to the center zip format). There are no waist tabs for making the waist smaller via velcro.
