I am enjoying using this glove but it definitely has a limited use case. I use it almost exclusively for winter trail running in Colorado. I wanted a glove/mitten that kept my hands warm but also provided enough dexterity. Regular five finger gloves weren’t warm enough and mittens are too cumbersome. This three finger design is a good compromise. These are purposes built for high exertion activities. The insulation is thin and the glove has fairly good breathability. I’ve used these on multiple runs in the mountains in the snow in single digit temps and they work great. I use them with trekking poles and the material on the palms which is like a micro suede allows me to get a good grip on the handles. A few things to be aware of. First the fit is slim. I ordered a size 8 which is equivalent to a medium which is my usual size and the length is perfect but there isn’t a lot of volume. At first it felt very restrictive but after a few runs it didn’t really bother me. If I sized up the length would have been too long. Also the cuff is pretty tight so if you have big volume hands or thick wrists it might be difficult to put them on. Second these are not waterproof, so not ideal for skiing, snowboarding. They should be great for cross country skiing though. Finally these don’t come with a wrist leash like other Hestra gloves which is a bummer because that would be very useful. Overall this glove is a good piece of kit for very specific use cases. If you are looking for a fairly warm well made glove for winter running these are great.
