Why We Like The HOKA Anacapa 2 Mid GTX Hiking Boot
The Anacapa 2 Mid GTX is a lightweight hiking boot that HOKA developed for day hikers who love them some cushion. This mid-cut boasts a tall stack of EVA foam that's soft enough to spoil our hiking feet yet solid enough to support them on uneven terrain and tough trails. The waterproof nubuck leather uppers are backed by a waterproof and breathable GORE-TEX membrane to let us walk in all weather while the Vibram Megagrip rubber gives us premium trail tread for both wet and dry conditions. The second iteration of the Anacapa is more eco-friendly than the original with recycled materials integrated into the mesh, vamp, sockliner, collar, laces, and tongue to reduce waste and our environmental footprint.

Comfy but not waterproof
These are comfortable and very light which is nice when elk hunting up and down the mountains. They certainly are not waterproof. I mean, even wet grass made my socks wet. This is a huge no, no. If Hoka could make these more waterproof, I'd purchase another pair. I would recommend to a friend if they weren't concerned with the waterproofing aspect.

Do not buy these, they aren't made for wear and tear.
Shoes lasted about 5 months and that's with me buying a pair of Solomons to make up for these junk shoes. Already have holes, maybe wore them discin 25 times max

Great shoe
I have waited to review - I got these shoes about 10 months ago. My daily step count has almost doubled since I got them - I wear them almost every day. So comfortable and great to stand in all day or walk or light hike. My only complaint is the inside is wearing out intensely and holes have worn into them pretty intensely. They also get a bit wet on the top in any light rain or wet grass. But I still recommend these shoes despite it. Just wish the inside was more durable.

Outstanding
For someone who works in law enforcement and who suffers from plantar fasciitis the both pair of Hoka that I bought have turned my everyday pain into something non existent. The recovery and comfort is second to none. I'm on my feet an average of 16 hour shifts and these are life changing.

Don't recommend
To be fair these are the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. But I did a 50 mile hike in Peru and the shoes had a hole in them after that. I think that it's shameful to have a shoe that is branded as a hiking shoe and can't even last 50 miles. They need to have a better and more durable design.

I want but can't take the risk
I want to wear these in a tactical setting and they are beyond comfortable. Unfortunately the first time I put them on out of the box at home, the bottom lace hook ripped out. I was able to return them to Scheels but they didn't have my size. After reading other reviews with several others having this common issue, I can't justify spending the money for what I can imagine will happen again and again until a new design is produced. Looking forward to se if these reviews help because they are very comfortable.

Good for everyday use or backpacking in the mountains!
I purchased this for our Mt Rainier trip as a light weight trail shoe until we reached the snow fields and glaciers on our approach then changed to insulated boots. It was a great camp shoe. I hike in these on rocky terrain carrying a 40-50lbs bag and they did great. The GTX worked great while crossing streams and walking on snow around camp. They performed better than I expected. Now I wear them everyday since they provide comfort are light weight and can go off road at a moments notice for unexpected adventures. Anacapa 2 mid GTX performed and over delivered!

Only had these for a week
I only had these boots for a week and wore them 3 times and the metal top hook popped out while tying the boot. As much as these boots cost the the quality should be much better. The hook shouldn't be popping out after only 3 wears.
