This bag is the best designed, lightweight day pack on the market - that is if you’re an ultralight adventurer. I’ve taken this bag with me everywhere in the west. I usually push the pace on outings and pack minimally so this bag pairs well with this type of traveling. For anyone who is used to more “over built” bags like Osprey or Deuter, I probably wouldn’t recommend this as there’s no zippers or pockets and it encourages you to travel light and fast. I use a hydro pack with this and it works well but you have to place the nipple of the hose just right on the shoulder strap otherwise it’ll bounce around. The fit is excellent, no hot spots or rubbing. The material is incredibly durable as it was barely phased by the sandstone in Southern Utah. It’s also waterproof which I can attest to after a wet outing on the windward side of the Big Island.

great design, problematic build issues
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I LOVE this pack and think it has a great, simple design (and monster-strong materials). But I had to return the first I received because it was poorly sewn ... the pack straps were stitched on the bag very crooked/cockeyed. Backcountry was awesome in taking the return and sending a new one to me even before they got the original back--I got great customer service. Unfortunately the second pack was also not perfect--more of the same skewed tailoring in the straps, though not as bad as the first. I'm keeping this one, because it's good enough and I feel somewhat uncomfortable with the level of carbon impact of shipping back-and-forth multiple times for a simple backpack, and also I'm trying to be less uptight about details. BUT: it's a $200 daypack and the fact that a major sewing alignment is off in 2/2 packs I've had my hands on is a sign of a manufacturing problem. Wasn't going to post a negative review if it was a one-off problem ...
