Why We Like The Ibis Ripmo XT Carbon Wheel Mountain Bike
One of the most popular and capable trail bikes on the market has been redesigned for 2024. The Ibis Ripmo is back and the kitchen sink of updates comes with it. Everything from the frame shape to the rear travel and geometry has been updated to bring new life into the Ripmo. Now sporting 150mm of DW-Link suspension, a longer wheelbase, and a slacker head tube angle, the new Ripmo is a more capable bike all over the mountain than the previous iteration. Another major step forward for Ibis is the addition of their size-specific geometry, giving us chainstays, seat tube angles, and bottom bracket heights specific to the frame size for a better fit and balanced feel for every sized rider. Further improving the fit, the Ripmo now features five sizes for a broader range of fitment compatibility and has size-specific wheel sizes, giving the two smallest sizes mixed wheels and the three largest sizes 29-inch wheels. One feature we never saw coming was Ibis's new internal frame storage system, featuring a unique lever handle and special edition Ibis x Cotopaxi storage bags for convenient storage of tubes and tools in our frame. The finishing touches include chainstay and downtube protectors, a shuttle guard, and silent internal cable routing.
The Shimano XT Carbon Wheel build has components that get the job done, has a great reputation, and has been upgraded with carbon wheels. Ibis's carbon fiber frame is one of the most trusted in the industry and is known to be lightweight and durable. Shimano's XT 12-speed drivetrain has a proven track record for precise shifting, and the XT 4-piston brakes have tons of stopping power on tap. The Ripmo is fitted with Fox's new Float 36 Factory GripX fork, which sports updated climbing and descending performance through the addition of Fox's new damper tech. At the same time, the Factory Float X rear shock throws down relentless traction and can be tuned to our liking. Industry Nine carbon wheels take this build to the next level, giving us lightweight and precise carbon rims and high-engagement hubs for a technical riding performance wheelset that gives us confidence on any trail.
*Due to a high demand in the global supply chain and bike industry since the start of the pandemic, material weight and exact components are subject to change. We are working diligently to keep tech specs updated, and any adjustments will be of equal or better spec level.
