I had the old Carve EVO + and while they were great the material on the front of the knee got shredded from crashes. This new design with the hard shell should eliminate this issue. Probably the perfect do it all knee pads, great for all day trail rides and lift days. Both the L and XL fit but ended up with the L thinking they will stretch out a little just like my old ones.
