Why We Like The Jetboil MiniMo Stove

One of our favorite backpacking stoves is now available in a smaller size for easier packing and more efficient cooking. The Jetboil MiniMo Stove is an obvious choice for solo treks, but the 1-liter canister holds the exact amount of boiled water needed for most dehydrated meals portioned for two.

Great system

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Having used mixed fuel systems previously, this is my first canister system. Works great - very efficient boil. I was able to adjust the dial enough to simmer. My only criticism would be that it does not pack down as compact as I would prefer.

Just the perfect system

Using the minimo previously, I bought a second. It’s nice looking, lightweight enough for backpacking, and big enough to hold entire meals. It heats up very quick, sometimes a tad too quick but that would just be my user error because it’s just that darn effective, little jet engine that thing. My only gripes comes with the bowl which protects the heat sink which has cracked down the middle, and the sleeve which I wish was a little easier to dry or wick moisture. Otherwise a great system, wish it was cheaper to recommend it more often, and useful on short and long backpacking trips out to crags.

Perfect for a Crowd

This is my favorite stove to use when out with friends. The larger capacity and rapid boil time means we don't have to take turns getting our oatmeal, coffee, or tea in the mornings. We can just fill the pot and boil it in a couple minutes. The pot can stick in the stand a bit if you're not careful, so we don't generally twist to lock it in place and are careful to be sure the stove is on a stable, level surface. It's a bit heavy for lightweight backpacking, but the convenience is worth it in most cases.

No Fuss, the MiniMo is the only backpacking stove you need:

I’ve owned the MiniMo for many years and it really is the only backpacking stove you need. I’ve used ultralight alternatives, alcohol stoves, tuna cans, etc but where the MiniMo wins is giving you piece of mind that it will always work. No more battling with a homemade wind screen or trying to get the pot stabilizer to be flat enough on your micro burner. The MiniMo is reliable, convenient, easy to use and heats up quickly. I love the simmer adjustment that allows you to easily adjust the flame and the starter push button allows you to not have to worry about matches or a lighter. It’s very convenient that everything including a small fuel canister will fit inside the pot for easy storage. Bikepacking, backpacking, car camping, and skiing the MiniMo comes with me on every trip. Even if we are using a 2 burner camp stove the MiniMo becomes the coffee station for group car camping trips. If you choose the MiniMo you won’t be disappointed.

I’ve cooked with this, made coffee, boiled water and it does everything extremely well. I have a jetboil flash and I find myself reaching for this one every time now. It regulates the heat very well. I’ve used the pan to cook pancakes, steaks, eggs and much more. I’ve even taken it to work to French press myself some coffee at lunch or make myself some soup on a cold day. Don’t hesitate to buy this cook system. You will not be disappointed.

Great upgrade!

Forever I have had just the regular jet boil and loved it. But this last fall I decided to buy the miniMo so we could simmer meat if we wanted to for dinners. Love this set up and the ease of using it. Still boils water extremely fast but can cook so many more things now! The handle on the side is very nice.

Good gear. Will recomend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought the minimo a year ago and have used it on a number of hikes and camping trips in the forest and on summer scout camping trips as well as on duty in the rescue boat service here in Denmark. Only one minor nuisance. The 'top lid' is poorly made and fits eithe too well or not at all.

Great all in one stove

Been using a jetboil flash for years and decided to upgrade it to the MiniMo and was not disappointed. Took this out for the first time for a 25 mile trip with my partner and we both used it for all of our meals. The efficiency and speed of the stove are as expected, phenomenal. My only pieces of feedback is that the handle on the pot can get warm and the exposed rivets heat up as well so exercise caution.
