Flex Lock
Even the proudest splitboarder has to admit that skiers have a major advantage when it comes to touring—or at least they did until Karakoram came along. As part of their mission to improve every aspect of splitboarding, Karakoram realized a major disadvantage of splitboarding was a lack of lateral support on the uphill when compared with hardbooted skiers. They addressed this problem with the innovative Flex Lock. With a simple flick of a level, it greatly increases lateral support to help you maintain leverage when sidehilling on icy skintracks. When you're ready to ride down, just flick the lever back and get ready to kick out those methods.

It's amazing how well this device works
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
I thought it looked a little gimmicky and a tad pricy, but I read the only 2 reviews on here last season who praised this so I figured it was worth a shot. I'm thrilled with this purchase and would definitely purchase again if I break these in the future. They are going on their 2nd season and don't show any signs of significant wear after roughly 20ish tours on them. If they make it through this season too, (which I think they will) it was money very well spent. They add a very noticeable amount of response which gives you so much more bite when side hilling. Its like adding a 3rd binding strap from the top of your highback around your boot which you don't realize how much you want that support for uphill until you try something like this. Also an added bonus, it seem to help with my blisters that I normally get on the inside of my feet under the ball of my ankle. Since I don't have to flex out of my boots as hard when trying to stick to the icy skin track, these help keep my feet in the boot like it's supposed to and I don't get as much rubbing in my boot. It took me a few minutes and one adjustment during set up to get the orientation of it right and the right tightness. Overall though not hard to figure out or set up properly and Now I can't imagine touring without them. Quick flip of the lever and you have so much more response in the binding, you'll never think about switching to hard boots ever again if you're like me and want to stay in soft boots. I wouldn't be surprised if this gets other companies to make something for their bindings to match what this simple silly device does. I dare you to try it, you wont regret it.
