Here to make touring easier and more comfortable, the Karakoram Ranger Skins are some of the hardest working skins available, making cake out of sketchy skin tracks. These skins' perfect blend of nylon and mohair make for a solid performance, whether you're gripping the steeps or gliding across the not-so-steep. The tip and tail fit most splits securely, and the glue is neither too sticky nor too slippery.

Does the job
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Size Bought:
- Medium
This is the third or fourth set of skins I have used with my 158 splitboard in the ten years I have been touring on it. New skins are always nice, the skin glue on these is extremely tacky and they performed well in early season conditions. I ordered the mediums and the tail strap is quite short. I miss having extra length to grab onto when putting them on or taking them off, and in hindsight I would have sized up if I was confident the length wouldn’t be excessive. The included skin trimming tool is just a cheap plastic box cutter and I made a hack job of the trim, definitely inferior to the old G3 trim tool. Also not a fan of the white glue base, which (for better or worse) shows off all the dog hair, pine needles, and black mohair you will inevitably get on it before you decide to throw the box cutter away and use a better implement (like a sharp rock) to finish trimming. Time will tell how well the plastic tail clips hold up, so far so good though.

Do these skins have a rip strip or something similar to help taking on and off the skins easier?
