Not as comfortable as advertised

Debated buying these for several months. I'm a Kuhl pants "aficionado" and have several of their different styles, but these didn't live up to my expectations. The fabric is stiff and more canvas-like than chinos. The front styling through the pockets and crotch is very boxy and gave me a bit of a Sponge Bob thing going on. I was hoping to use these as a dressy-casual pant but they did not seem as dressy as my old Banana Republic or even Lululemon ABC pants. All the comments on how easily they stain made me hesitant to use them for outdoor activities, or even sitting on a dirty picnic table. Overall, it wasn't worth keeping them as they didn't quite fit the bill.

I like Kuhl clothing, but they seem to have a workmanship issue that they need to resolve. Why are the back pockets different distances from the center seam when you spend over $100 on a pair of pants? Not just a little, but twice the distance. I have to order 2-3 pairs to get the pants that have even-spaced back pockets. I would keep these but they are going back due to workmanship issues. Otherwise, they would be great and I could recommend them to others

Bad experience with Backcountry
I returned the product due to sizing issues. I used the mailing label they gave me. They claim that they never got the product back, and no refund was given. They don't have any way to talk to a person on a live call. I wasted a lot of time on chats, and they kept saying they'll get back to me. They never followed up.

like/hate relationship
As the one who does the laundry, these frustrate the h*** out of me. They're my partner's pants -- he loves how they fit, and they look great and have held up really well over the last two years. Problem being: YES, they STAIN and stain EASILY. The pictures posted in the other reviews are exactly what his look like. I finally lost all patience with his pants (deciding I don't care if I ruin the pants) and left Oxy stain remover spray on the stains overnight, after massaging it into the stretchy weave of the fabric (you've got to use that product, got to let it sit overnight, and got to massage it in to the fabric). The instructions say not to do this on khaki fabric, but I did it anyway. Regardless: if I soak the stains, massage the Oxy in, and let it sit for 24 hours...the stains are gone, the pants look just fine and weren't damaged by the stain remover. It's extra work and a bit of a pain, but it's the only thing I can do to get the stains out (rather than wash these things four times in a row). Also, this isn't a commercial for Oxy spray...we're starting to run through the bottle already. This is for the dark khaki pants...I dunno how this would work for other colors. And, since I finally know the product that works and the procedure to get the stains out...we're unfortunately back to buy more of these pants. They're the only pair that 1) still looks really good (he wears them as work pants) and 2) have held up like a beast while his other pants have started to look ratty and full of holes. And...as the one who does the laundry...now that I've finally figured out how to get the stains out, I'm the one logging in to get him these pants. Cleaning is a bit of a pain, but it's doable, and they're unfortunately really nice-looking, comfortable, and durable pants. I'm not super enthusiastic, but at least I know how to get the stains out. So...you've been warned.

These pants stain easy. Yes, they look great, as far as looks go and are super comfy, love the tapered legs (like regular resistor) however if you nudge your bicycle in the garage- it stains. If you bend down on the ground in your yard or garage- watch out! Yep, it stains. If you brush up against your car taking out the trash on trash day don't get any grime on your pants because you guessed it! It's stained. FOR LIFE. I tried everything. Finally hit the hard-stuff including stain remover and toxic T*** detergent and finally tried just using hot setting- nothing gets out the stains. I finally called customer service sent in pictures proof of purchase and was told "sorry- considered normal wear and tear." Please someone help me understand if a product is marketed as "trail to office" and you can't get out a common house-hold stain, what good is an over-priced pair of hiking pants like that? Just say no, thanks. I am, having been a dye-hard (snicker) fan of Kuhl, It's time to move on.

The fabric stains too easily

I've owned these pants for two weeks, and I can't wear them anywhere but hiking/climbing anymore. I'm a careful person, but I got unlucky once or twice spilling a bit of food and drink on my pants. I've tried every possible way to remove the stains, but they are still obvious and ugly. It really is a shame because the pants fit and feel great, and I was probably going to order more. If you want to use wear these pants in a variety of settings, I would not recommend buying them.
