Why We Like The La Sportiva TC Extreme Shoe
To match the alpine's extreme conditions, we outfit our feet with La Sportiva's TC Extreme Shoe. The protective gaiter's water-repellent exterior and fleecy interior armor our feet against the icy wet air emanating from deep within the crack, while the mid-height internal collar helps pad our ankles against the rock. Wrapped with Vibram's sticky XS Grip2 rubber, this shoe delivers consistent bite no matter how frigid it gets.

TC Extreme
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Size Bought:
- 42
I like the zip up fleece gaiter. The traction the shoes provide on my home wall is excellent. I don’t have any tiny edges so I can’t comment on their edging but they keep me on even the smallest of Metolius foot holds on both my vertical wall and 20 degree overhanging wall. The weather has not been cooler than 50 yet when I climb so I cannot comment on warmth yet. They do seem to stretch. I wear a 43 in the TC and bought a 42 in the TC Extreme. I have worn the shoes a half dozen times on my home wall so far and some stretching is occurring. I like the shoes but might have wanted them in my 43 size.
