Why We Like The La Sportiva TX4 Evo Approach Shoe
When our project is nestled deep in the canyon and up questionable switchbacks, we lace into the La Sportiva TX4 Evo Approach Shoe for the journey. The to-the-toe lacing lets us cinch in a performance fit, while the wraparound rubber rand and protective toe cap armor our feet against the rock- and stick-riddled path. On the descent back to our car, the sole's Impact Brake System helps keep our feet under us down the steep and loose mountainside. Just like we do with our climbing shoes, we can resole this shoe thanks to the Resole Platform insert, letting us keep our perfectly broken-in pair longer.

These shoes are superb. Comfortable and stable. With jeans the yellow really makes a statement.

stiffer and tighter
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it
- Size Bought:
- 43
the shoe is stiffer than the last version. toe box feels narrower. i think the added layer between the rubber and the eva foam is to blame. the idea of a resole on a sneaker is silly once the padding is shot the shoe is done. i have had 5 pairs of the old version and the rubber has outlasted the eva every time

Great shoes for hiking in the mountains and climbing. The shoes provide good grip on steep slopes and rocks.

I've had 6 consecutive pairs of the now-discontinued La Sportiva TX4. I have a wide foot, and these have been a fantastic do-it-all, everyday shoe for me. This new "EVO" model is visibly shorter in length, and much narrower. I wore it for 6 hours, and eventually opted to end the day without shoes in a setting where that isn't totally appropriate. The shoe is probably great for someone; as they seem tough. But, be warned if you loved the old TX4 - this shoe fits a lot different.

Hiking in Zion National Park
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Size Bought:
- 42
I bought the shoes for hiking in Zion National Park (specifically Angel’s Landing) and I found them to be very comfortable with good, reassuring grip during Angel’s Landing and several other hikes that day. There was a lot of elevation change and precarious trail involved in the hikes and the shoes handled it all with comfort and ease, no hot spots or blisters after a great day of hiking in Zion.

Approach or hiker?

- I've used it several times

This shoe fits like a TX4; but the sole is as stiff as a hiking boot, takes more time to break in.
