Why We Like The CX332 Wide Cycling Shoe
While the Wide version of the CX332 Cycling Shoe occupies a step that’s just one below Lake's much-lauded CX402 model, it still packs many race-worthy features that are appreciated by the discerning cyclist. K-Lite kangaroo leather and mesh craft the upper, prized for its abrasion-resistant durability and suppleness for a fit that molds to your foot as you ride and, along with the Outlast temperature regulating heel and tongue liner, keeps your feet cooler when the mercury is spiked.
For the closure, dual IP1 Boa dials handle foot retention with micro-adjustments and comfortably secures the foot ensuring that every single watt is harnessed when cranking on the pedals. By employing two Boa closures, you can keep your heel locked down, without requiring excessive pressure or hotspots on the forefoot. And as you already know, that means better blood flow and greater comfort. The rear of the shoe also features its internal Thermaform Carbon Fiber heel counter for custom molding at home with an oven.
While this version is wider than the standard CX332 and narrower than the Extra Wide version, it still features Lake's CX/TX Race last which is a little narrower in the toe box and heel than the Competition last found on Lake's CX237 for a streamlined, glove-like fit that minimizes excess foot movement and prevents hot spots. Combined with a feathery light and stiff 100% carbon fiber sole, and you have a shoe that efficiently transfers every watt of power output into the pedals.

Awesome shoes if you size correctly
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I measured my foot, added 5mm then went with the next size up and the fit was perfect. These are the most comfortable cycling shoes I've owned. Being leather they will only get more comfortable with time

Horrible, hot and obsolete
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
Lake once took me to some of the best riding in my life, until last year. I received their top of the range, and, despite it feeling heavy next to my Specialized S-Works 7, it seemed passable. Then, April 2021, when the temperature went above 15 C, my feet started baking. At 20, I had to open them. Why? They have a synthetic black inner mesh layer that traps infrared and sweat. Unlike prev Lakes, a fraction of ventilation holes. In addition, that middle plastic support creases oddly, and, you guess it, does not wrap around the foot with movement. Contacted Lake and, although worn 500 kms, they agreed to a refund, and asked me to try two of their new prototypes. In those, they removed most of the leather, added hundreds of more holes, but their black arch mesh was a bad choice so I avoided. After this, continued riding with S Phyre 9 and S Works 7, and I was clearly 2 kms faster and cooler for the rest of the summer, 35-45 km/hr. Lake? Once good leather, now unimaginative, hot, poor materials and heavy and hot.

Great Looking Shoe - Size up.
I ordered 43.5 based on the sizing chart but they we about a half size small. The width didn't feel much different from my Giro Techlace in the same size, but I am expecting some stretching over time. The shoes look great and dual boa work very well. There's not a much ventilation holes in the leather uppers - I suspect they could be hot during longer rides in the summer months.

Definitely order up
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it
Despite having 3 other Lake shoes (CX403, CX241, MX238) that all fit consistently in size 50, I got the CX332 in and it seems like they are easily a size smaller that the others. I absolutely love the fit and finish, but unfortunately there's no bigger sizes for me. Going to try the CX238 or another pair of the CX241.
