Why We Like The Lowa Camino Evo GTX Backpacking Boot
When our packs are loaded with a week's worth of supplies, and we've got rugged miles standing between us and the next town, we lace up the Lowa Camino Evo GTX Backpacking Boot and start putting one foot in front of the other. The boots are designed to flex naturally with our feet, minimizing pressure points so we don't need to pack along moleskins to keep our feet in hiking shape. The heavy-duty midsoles are designed to keep our feet supported over rocky, technical terrain while easing our step for a plush, cushioned ride. The Vibram Apptrail II soles round it out, giving us powerful traction and stability so we can conquer any terrain the trails throw our way.

Great boot, hope this pair wears better

This is my second pair of Lowa Camino Evo GTX boots. I found these boots comfortable out of the box, with ample volume in the forefoot, firm instep flex and a grippy heel cup. I’ve used these boots for backpacking, scrambling and lots of woodland hiking and would say they have enough lateral rigidity and footbed support for difficult terrain (boulders, talus, scree) without too much weight or stiffness (compared, say, to my old Asolo Yukons). My previous pair of Camino, purchased in 1999, didn't hold up well under regular use: the toe Rand started to shred within the first hundred miles and the stitching around the decorative, V-shaped holes on the outside of the uppers gave way in year three, resulting in leakage. I plugged the leaks with shoe goo, but the holes were a design flaw—I’m glad Lowe ditched them in the current model. I hope these new ones prove to be more durable. Lowa is once again offering a relieving the USA, including resoling, so I may get these ones fixed up sooner if they start to fail, in the hope of making them last longer. I wore the previous pair out during the pandemic.

The best boot I have used so far

These are top of the line in quality, the are as good or better as the Scarpa'a or Hanwag or Danner boots I have. For me the wide fits is perfect, but all feet are different. I walk every day for 2 hours with dogs in the woods and these boots are great. I prefer the more robust backpacking boots, like the Camino Evo. I would always size 1/2 up, they are true to size but a bit smaller than Danner boots.
