Why We Like The Zephyr Mid TF Hiking Boot
We love that the Lowa Zephyr Mid TF Hiking Boot not only blends in with the desert, but it's also meant for trekking in those warmer, drier climates. The lining was specifically designed to wick moisture, dry quickly, and ventilate for better comfort in summertime.
Its split grain leather upper gives long-lasting durability, and the Monowrap Frame adds stability to help prevent rolling your ankle. Underfoot, the Zephyr features an ATC footbed with a DuraPU midsole for rugged shock absorption. The Lowa Cross II rubber sole has sharp lugs to ensure traction on rough terrain.

I was excited to buy these boots until I tried them on. The top three loop-holes are impossible to lace every time that I want to wear the boots. It's a real chore for me. Ordinarily, the top three attachment points would be hooks, not eye-loops that require individual threading. Sorry. I love the store.

I live and hike in the Sangre de Christos mtns of NM and I think gortex boot liners feel like plastics bags inside my boots. So I buy high quality wool socks and wear summer boots all year long, even though at altitude we usually have a couple feet of snow on the ground. Sooo much more comfortable and they dry fast. Work great with snow shoes. Not for everybody but if you like this idea, these are the right boots. They last about 2-3 years at 15-20 miles a week, 40-50 weeks a year.

Bought my first pair ten years ago for a hike up Mt. Whitney. Love them and eventually wore them out. Was happy to see they still make the same boot. The second pair are the same, nothing changed. Very comfortable, no break in needed.

Very comfortable out of the box. I?m usually a size 11, and this seems true to size. It?s so hard to find hiking boots without goretex, so I was happy to find that these are excellent for locations where breathability trumps waterproofing. My only issue is that the sole seems to wear down quickly.

Just replaced these boots. I remember hiking in my already well broken in pair when my almost 40 year old son was in scouts. I remember standing on a for Habitat for Humanity that was so hot I was sliding down the tar paper that was becoming liquid under me. So how long, durable and comfortable are they? Well I can honestly say I should have retired them 5 years ago. I finally gave in now that the heels are hollowed out and I find bits and pieces of them beside my bed every day. LOVE THESE BOOTS!
