Comfortable and Durable

This is my second pair of Mad Rock Remora shoes. I climb at the gym 3-5 times a week, and having a slip on that feels secure is such a treat when getting on and off the wall repeatedly. The rubber on my old pair lasted a good while before the toes wore through, but it seemed to last a little longer than my Evolv's (or I got better at climbing, who knows?). My feet are somewhat wide and large, and I have no trouble getting in and out. Even on heel-hooks the shoes stay snug. I'm not the most advanced climber, but I would certainly recommend these to any beginner or amateur.

Fit like the Evolv Zenists!

First thing I noticed when I put on these shoes is they feel just like the Evolv Zenists I have (Pre 2024 remodel). Madrocks site says these don't have a midsole and yet they feel stiffer than the Zenists; I think due to the stiffer Madrock rubber used. My only grip is these are "so-so" at deep toe-hooks, the pull strap on the top kind of gets in the way and slides against the top of the shoe with whatever you are toe-hooking into. I'd say, unless you are looking for a good all affordable around slipper or just looking at Madrock in general, I'd recommend getting the Madrock's Rovers instead since they are even cheaper, more adjustable with the straps, and I feel perform about the same. Other shoes I wear, Evolv Shaman & Zenists (US 10.5), Scarpa Instinct VSR (42.5), Ocun Ozone HV (US 9.5). Mad Rock Rover (US 9).

The Remoras are a great all round soft slipper, good for easy climbing, slab and even speed climbing. These ultra flexible and comfortable shoes are great for warming up and doing long easy sport routes where stickiness and reliability is a must but no need to worry about discomfort. When this slipper is brand new the edge is capable of tackling very small, delicate feet while climbing in steep terrain. The compression fit these shoes offer makes for a very reliable and comfortable fit. The toe box is great for a wide foot and the heel cup grips very well. The balance between comfort and performance is very well executed in this shoe. I find myself slipping these on when I need a chill pair of shoes to have a long session and not use a more aggressive pair. Like many of MR shoes the sticky rubber, especially on such a soft shoe, is really unparalleled on small feet outside. The edge of the shoe is stiff enough to stand on small edges, yet soft enough to feel exactly what you’re stepping on. The toe box has a solid layer of rubber on the top that is good for toe hooks, while also being malleable enough to get into toe jambs and slots. These are great shoes for everything from being a first pair of climbing shoes to the seasoned climber looking for a specialty slipper. Mad Rock Ambassador Alex A.
