Great gloves, warm yet breathable for uphills. I was able to wear these on a long backcountry touring trip every day despite a broad range of temps. They look good as well.

Quality and fit
I've owned many pairs of gloves in search of the perfect thing for ski touring in the Rockies. The Mammut Astro Guide is my go-to glove for all-day touring missions in mid-winter. They provide the ideal balance of warmth and breathability from temps of about 0 to -15 C. On warm days they get a bit sweaty but tend to dry out on the descent. That said, I always bring a backup fair of thin fleece gloves, extra gore-tex gloves for skiing or as a backup in case I need to do a bunch of unplanned digging, and sometimes another pair of mitts for colder days just in case. I typically buy XL gloves in other brands but often the fingers are too short. These Astros are size 11 and I'm very happy with the fit.

Runs small and not warm enough
Run small and they just don't keep my hands very warm at all, even when it is just moderately cold out. The expert voice brain wants me to include things that worked and didn't work. Uhhhh, OK, they didn't work for keeping my hands warm. Expert voice also wants to know if these are better for a beginner or expert. Uhhh, neither? Are experts better at having warm hands in inadequate gloves? I have to keep typing and typing until the check box turns green. Maybe just stating that they aren't warm and run small is enough, eh?

Amazing quality and fit
I love these gloves. I had originally bought a size 8. It was slightly large so I ended up ordering a size 7 also. The 7 is perfect. The quality of the leather is excellent and the hook and loop at the wrist for adjusting phenomenal.

Stylish and warm when your core is warmed
After use in the Rockies in the winter my hands were bloody cold but once I warmed them (with the gloves on) in my pockets while I hiked and broke a sweat and that warm core super heated my hands and these gloves OMG kept my hands for warm for hours through high winds and snow and scrambles through ice and rock. These gloves have grown on me but you gotta get your hands proper warm before they are super effective.

The sizing guide is way off
I ordered the size recommended using the Mammut site. The gloves that were delivered are so small I can barely put them on They look like nice gloves but I will never know since I will not be able to wear them or exchange them for the correct size.

Great for winter hiking and skiing
The build quality and comfort is top notch on these gloves! I have been using them for day hikes in Alaska as well as skate skiing as they have a nice grip on the poles. I normally prefer crab claw style gloves for downhill skiing and hiking but these have been great for 20 degree plus days. So far they have been fairly water repellent with snow even the wet sticky stuff. I also purchased the Mammut mit outer shell just in case things get too windy.

Great low-profile snowboarding glove
These gloves are very warm for their size, they have minimal bulk allowing you to retain some dexterity. I wear these gloves snowboarding and so far they have kept my hands dry and warm. They fit true to size. For my purpose, I would like to see them sold with a waterproof gore-tex membrane instead of the windstopper membrane but I understand snowboarding is not their intended use.

The best gloves I have owned to date. The fit is comfortable and tight enough to not lose the finger dexterity for a quick boulder or two. I use them for fly fishing in the winter as well and they are great for that.
