Lightweight enough to be packable in a smaller 20L pack. Enough warmth to wear with only a t-shirt underneath in below freezing temps. Fit is good, not too boxy, but enough room for additional layers. I like the steep angle of the front pockets which allows me to use them even when wearing a backpack.

Warm, compact, and my new go-to jacket

I previously had the top recommended Wirecutter jacket that my dog ripped hole in after several years of use and wanted to give another jacket a try. This one exceeded my expectations in that the hood covers large portion of my face when fully zipped. That has helped me a lot on windy days to minimize heat loss. I'm someone who's always cold and was at first skeptical of warmth rating since the billows are more compact than my previous jacket. But it's been great! The manufacturing is excellent from what I can tell. The one thing I've noticed is the zipper setup seems reverse of what I normally see for male jackets in the US. I suspect it's because Mammut is European company but not sure. Overall, fantastic product!
