Why We Like The Mammut Haldigrat Air HS Pant
Touring, skinning, whatever you choose to call it, the Mammut Haldigrat Air HS Pant is built for it. With the help of the Pertex Shield Air 3L laminate that seals out the weather and breathes better than some pants we have worn in the past, we can skip up skin tracks on bluebird days and storm days with equal aplomb. Meanwhile, the burly nylon face fabric encourages adventurous routes, and the long outer-thigh zips help us stay cool, calm, and collected on exposed faces and precarious ridges.

Thin, breathable hardshell pants are great for ski touring
Thin, slightly stretchy, breathable hardshell pants are great for ski touring, bridging the gap between softshells and burlier hardshell. These are well done, with a soft feel inside that you could wear against bare skin if needed. As usual with Mammut the cut is great. The fit, is not though. They are too short. I have several other pairs of Mammut pants in this size (32 long) and they fit perfectly, but these are too short. The other thing is that the lower leg is way too wide. These are technical pants for ski touring, meaning you need to skin, hike and climb with cr sons in them. All those activities require a trim lower leg so you don't have swishing noise, or worse, catch a crampon and trip.
