Neon 45 is my new favorite crag pack. So happy!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Utah climber here! Mammut gave me this free product to try. Great bag to get everything I need to and from the crag! I love the simplicity of the zippers and hardware. In other bags it’s easy to lose things when there are too many pockets. This has the perfect features for what I need and is a well thought out design. The main compartment is roomy and has two gear loops for storing my quick draws. The top opening is convenient for stashing my helmet. I really like that I can fit my helmet inside as opposed to hanging off the outside like I had with my prior setup. I’m a 5’ 2” woman and found the fit of the bag great for me. The shoulder straps and waist strap were comfortable and both have a lot of adjustability. I hiked in the Wasatch mountains in Utah for several miles at a time and had no issues with how the pack was carrying. As far as space in the bag, it has so much room for everything I could need. I sport climb and easily fit my 70m rope, quick draws, PAS, harness, shoes, helmet, and miscellaneous devices/gear in the bag with room for extra clothing and snacks. I like how organized my gear stays with the system in this bag. The option to store rope on the outside is convenient but I preferred having my rope inside the pack. The color is beautiful and the material used for it is quality, water resistant and highly durable. Been buying Mammut products for years and this one is stellar. Would definitely recommend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Mammut Women’s Neon 45 is solid climbing pack. The waterproof, rip-proof fabric protects your gear. The lid has a handy strap you can pull out of a little hidden pocket to lash down your rope on the outside of your pack. There is a place for a bladder inside. I love the rope tarp that is included. It is thicker and more durable than any rope tarp I currently own. The lid has ample room items you may want readily available. There are gear loops inside the bag I use to stash my draws. The back of the back also full unzips for easy gear removal. The waist belt is padded and fully adjustable. Not to mention, the waist belt is very comfortable. Hiking with a full pack was comfortable and the back was secure while boulder scrambling With 45L of space I could easily fit all my gear including my rope inside the bag. My favorite feature though may be the gravity on/off switch. This is my new go to climbing pack. Mammut gave me this free product to try.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I enjoyed testing this pack out on several climbing days, but it’s not my favorite. The shoulder and waist straps are alright, but they don’t carry heavy loads very well. I used this pack for day of alpine ice climbing that required a long approach and after a while the straps were quite uncomfortable. It also does not have ice tool attachments, so it’s not the best ice climbing pack. The pack does have a nice structure which makes packing it easy. There are straps on the outside to easily attach a rope. However the only outside pocket is on top, which is covered by the rope if using those straps. The pack opens suitcase style from the back when laid down which is always a nice feature for cragging. The bag feels pretty durable and water resistant, but I only got to use it for a few weeks. Overall I would recommend this pack if you’re in the market for a cragging pack. But there are better options for carrying heavy loads, ice climbing, or alpine approaches. Mammut gave me this free product to try.

The Pack I Didn't Know I Needed

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the pack I didn't know I needed. The U-shaped zipper along the back makes finding your gear easy without creating a yard sale the crag. I love how much gear it can hold and was impressed with the adjust-ability and comfort of the shoulder straps. The hip belt fit securely and took the weight off my shoulders and the structure of the pack provides support for an overall lighter feel even when you've got a double rack. The included rope bag kept my rope tidy and easy to access. I also love the rope tab on top for slinging a coiled rope over, many thoughtfully designed features. Pack is made of a rugged fabric and appears to be very durable. Mammut gave me this free product to share.

Solid Climbing Pack

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall I enjoy this pack and have found it useful for outdoor climbing. Pros -Excellent rope carrying system with the straps and included rope tarp (although I wish they weren’t bright orange) -Comfortable and roomy, this pack carries weight well even when heavy and packed full -Easy to clean both inside and out -Handles on both sides and two at the top make moving the pack around the crag easy -Dual opening system, being able to open from the back or top helps for keeping organized and finding stuff. -Narrow shoulder straps, this fits me well, but could be a con for broad shouldered people Cons -I would like another interior pocket or two for better organization -No exterior water bottle pocket -No outlet for a water bladder hose -No hip belt pockets for small items Unknowns -No idea how it does in rain -Long term durability, the pack is doing great so far and hasn’t been damaged by cat claws, so I’m hopeful it’ll hold up well in the long term Mammut gave me this free product to try.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] [Mammut gave me this free product to try.] I enjoy using this bag. I find that it sits well in my back, even under heavy loads, and while it has less padding than some competitors, it did not feel uncomfortable on but akin to other lightweight mountaineering backpacks you can find on the market. While a 45L, it feels bigger given the shape and no frills interior, beyond some gear loops which prove useful for organizing QuickDraws, etc. I appreciate that it opens from the back and the front. And the rope bag and attachment system are great, and generally this is an all around great crag bag and one I plan on using frequently in the future! The only wish I had was one external water bottle holder or pouch for easier access when walking.

Mammut-amazing

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the Mammut Neon 45 Pack for free to sample, and it has truly impressed me. This pack combines functionality, style, and thoughtful design in a way that makes it a valuable companion for outdoor enthusiasts. Its 45L capacity strikes the perfect balance between space and organization, with smartly placed compartments for climbing essentials like ropes, quickdraws, and personal items, all easily accessible. Beyond practicality, it’s stylish, with a sleek look that enhances its outdoor-ready appeal. Features like the padded hip belt, sturdy handles, and upright structure show Mammut’s attention to both comfort and ease of use, making it ideal for both short trips and longer treks. This is a pack that not only looks good but performs exceptionally well, bringing together style, durability, and functionality in a cohesive, well-crafted design. I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to test it, as it meets high standards for any serious climber or adventurer.

Great for long cragging days!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Fits a double rack, 60m rope, and helmet with plenty of room to spare for water or layers. Rope tarp packs neatly and conveniently. Large pockets make for easy organization. Zippered opening on the back is great for easy access to gear without taking everything out. The slings included make it easy to organize my rack in the bag. The pack is extremely durable, handling friction descents without any wear. I have a smaller waist and found the hip straps fit me well, which has been an issue for me with other women’s fit packs. However, I wish the chest strap was a little longer. Even in just a tank top, it’s a bit tight. The pack is comfortable on longer approaches. Mammut gave me this product free to try.

Almost perfect

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Height:
5' 4"

Pros. It has enough space for a 70 m rope, harness, shoes, sport rack + extra gear, 2 big Nalgene bottles, helmet, a puffy jacket, snacks, and a guidebook. The top pocket can hold key, phone, chapstick, headlamp, etc. If the rope doesn't fit inside, I could put it on top and secure it with the designated rope loop/strap at the top and on the sides. The rope loop/strap stows away in a tiny pocket. It can stand up on its own. It comes with a tarp. Cons. It may be slightly too big for cragging, as I usually split the load with a partner: either carry a rope or quickdraws. It doesn't have a pocket on the side for a water bottle or a stick clip. I have to put the stick clip inside and let it stick out the top in between the zipper opening.
