Why We Like The Mammut Neon Gear 45L Backpack

Succinct organization, that's the name of the game that Mammut's Neon Gear 45L Pack is playing for rock climbers. It's like a portable closet for sport climbers, with internal straps that let you hang your quickdraws like jackets, and the external top strap fixes climbing ropes so you can maximize the pack's 45L capacity for a day's worth of essentials. Mammut also added a rope bag to protect your climbing rope from dirty crags.

Absolutely perfect

This is my second Neon 45 first one was stolen unfortunately but loved the first bad so much that I had to buy it again. Fits all of my climbing and my wife's climbing gear for when we go inside or outside. The rope tarp is a little on the smallish side but definitely big enough for 60-70m ropes if you flake consciously. The bag itself is super durable and we end up tossing it around the crag l, back of my truck, and in the gym and have no signs of wear or tear other than dirt and scuff marks. The bag itself is very lightweight and waist clip is a lifesaver when hiking out to the crag. Overall would recommend this bag to anyone looking for a large climbing bag to store a ton of gear!

Bag is a great size. Plenty of room for all my climbing gear. The loops inside at the top are great for hanging carabiners/devices to keep it organized. The included rope bag is nice as well. Would recommend this to anyone looking for a larger gear bag.

Fantastic Climbing Bag

Fits all my indoor/outdoor gear with room for clothes for the gym. I keep my helmet inside the bag so if I throw a 60m rope inside, I have to just clip my helmet on the side of the backpack with my shoes and chalk. This bag is definitely more for people who are carrying more gear. If you weren't going to bring a bunch of gear, you can probably go with a smaller bag. But I love the gear loops inside the back for quickdraws/carabiners and other climbing gear.

A Great Crag Bag

I’ve used this bag for two years now to carry both my sport and trad rack, along with extra gear like 30 meters of static rope and our 70 meter climbing rope. Not only does it carry weight well to and from the crag with the integrated hip belt, but it also is super durable. One thing I love most about it is the easy access to the interior of the bag via the back panel that is able to be unzipped. I know I’ll have this bag for a long time since it basically feels indestructible, and I’m glad I’m stuck with a bag that feels so great on my back.

Really nice

Love, Love, Love. So many climbing packs are featureless, single chamber, fabric, 5 gallon buckets..... not this one. Buy it, you will love it.

Great pack

I haven’t used it in a crag yet but I am sure it will be a blast with all the technical details.

Great crag bag

Loved the versatility of the bag. The quick draw hangars make it easy to organize your gear. All the handles made it easy to haul as well.

Favorite Climbing Bag

I love this bag so much. It feels like everything was thoughtfully designed - from the little handle on the front to the giant lid pocket, to the way the back splays open. It’s easy to access everything. I was worried it wouldn’t feel comfortable on my back, but it molds like a glove. I would hands down buy this again - maybe even get the bigger one so my rope would fit inside too.

Best little crag pack

I love this pack so much that I actually have 2 of them, one black and one teal. They are the perfect size for doing day trips or overnight trips to the crag. When doing sport outside the rope tarp is perfect for holding any size rope with then a whole lot of extra space for draws, slings, helmets, snacks, and anything else you’ll need. The rope strap on top is also such a handy feature especially if you need to bring 2 or even 3 ropes with you. The material is super durable and from dropping down on rocks, it will definitely hold up for quite a long time.
