Why We Like The Assegai Wide Trail Tire
Designed for aggressive trail riding in mixed conditions, the Assegai's tall knobs dig deep to find traction in loose dirt and loam, but don't sacrifice the support needed to navigate rocks and hardpack terrain with confidence. The tread pattern also provides a smooth and predictable cornering transition—a welcome feeling when you're trying to hold a line through tricky off-camber turns.

Terrible service
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it
I ordered this tire, another tire, and a fork after ensuring they were in stock. Despite them all being in stock I was given a 5 day ship time. Then my order was split - the fork in one, the tires in a different, separate shipment. The fork made it as promised. The tires did not. Backcountry sent an email telling me the tires would be here the next day and to ‘wait by my mailbox’. The next day came and went - no tires. I called backcountry and was told they reached out to fedex and the tires would arrive Saturday morning by 7:30. I didn’t believe that at all and said as much. I was assured they would be there and to call if they weren’t here by noon. Noon came and went, no tires. Another phone call, more shipping lies from backcountry. Monday they said. No tires on Monday. Customer service was rude and condescending. Now they also started blaming fedex. I told them they could take their tires back and provide a refund. Still waiting on that to happen. I’ll not purchase from them again - worst customer service I’ve encountered in a very long time.

Great front tire for turning hard
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
- Size Bought:
- 2.6"
- Height:
- 5' 11"
- Weight:
- 210
It is a very heavy tire but great for sharp and rocky rough stuff. It will really bite into a tight and sharp turn beyond belief. Super low PSI isn't as necessary for grip with this tire. 2.6" version on my front. Wheelies.... forget it go XC tire for agility, or Rekon for a tweener tire. It's far more enduro and heavy trail use, or when conditions are loose and slippery.

My new favorite front tire
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
A good friend of mine convinced me to trynthese out and I absolutely love them. I have traditionally been a DHF/DHR guy but after trying these out on the front I am now a DHR/Assegai guy. I feel like I now have a lot more confidence in my front tire on the trail. Seriously give them a try.
