Why We Like The Rekon Race Wide Trail EXO/TR Tire
Modern tires with wider profiles like the Rekon Race WT EXO Tire give us no-compromise performance thanks to the enhanced traction of the wide profile, and the fast-rolling feel from the minimal tread pattern. Maxxis took the Rekon Race Trail EXO/TR and beefed it up a bit to make it a premier cross-country race tire.
It maintains a flexible 120tpi casing, which dampens disturbances from the trail for a smooth ride. Maxxis's Dual Rubber Compound rubber provides a high grip, but it also ensures a long life of your regular wear. EXO sidewall protection offers some puncture resistance and a featherweight feel. The Rekon Race rolls at lightning speeds thanks to a semi-slick tread height, which also makes it a superior option for track racing and cross country trails.

Super light, roll fast, puncture easily
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
These tires came stock on my Pivot Mach 4 SL with Reynolds carbon wheels. The light rolling weight they offer is phenomenal, an absolute game changer. BUT... I regularly ride on rough, rocky Phoenix trails, and within the past 8 months I have irreparably punctured two rears of these tires, large gashes right in the contact patch at the base of a knob, both times. I've never had this problem before with other tires. For my purposes, they simply do not hold up. Gotta find something else, unfortunately probably a little heavier.

I love this WT Race Recons
- Familiarity:

- 2.4WT
I had mixed feelings about these Race Recons...i had a pair a few years back and flatted all the time, not sure what changed but these have been my go to race and training tire for 2 years. I love the 2.4WT. Running them with Berd Wheel Talon wheels set, 27mm rim width. These tires in WT are fast, grippy, i love them. I picked up this set during a flash sale to keep with me for my spares on race day. These tires have raced Little Sugar, Ruleof3 and several DORBA race events in DFW.
