The Merrell Agility Peak 5 GTX Shoe builds on the popular line's trusted performance by shaving a few ounces and upping performance, allowing us to stretch our goals wherever our feet hit the trail. My new fave!
Ve only had these for a few short weeks but so far, they are my favorite Merrell’s ever! Great to walk in! They give me bounce! Taking a stride is made way easier with these on your feet. So very comfy! And the Goretex is a bonus because who doesn’t want dry feet ALWAYS? I always check the Goretex out when I first receive a new pair by running them under a faucet with my hand side of them. No fail on the Goretex at all. Very happy with these shoes. Will certainly order another pair in the future.

waterproof shoe

Only regrets
This shoe is both a hit and a miss all in one. The cushion is amazing, and that's where the good ends. I like to buy Merrell's because the insoles are removable and I can put my custom insoles in. Unfortunately, whoever designed the Agility Peak 5 for women has no idea what shape a foot is. When you remove Merrell's insole you can see that the area where the arch is is extremely narrow. While the area for the feet is extremely wide. Due to the arch area being so narrow, my custom insoles do not lie flat when placed into the shoe. This results in the arch "bump" of my insoles jutting into the arch of my foot causing me pain. I have bought other insoles but no luck. No insole is that narrow in the arch area of a foot. Not even for women. Unfortunately, I didn't realize all this before first wearing the shoes outside (so now I'm stuck with them and can't return them, which is really upsetting). I have tried wearing them with the original insole, but I need way more arch support than those insoles offer. Also, because of the wide area for the toes it feels like my feet are swimming inside these shoes. Not what you want for a hike. So, I'm extremely regretful that I didn't know beforehand that not only do I need to check if an insole is removable, but I must also check the dimensions at the very bottom of the shoe to make sure regular insoles work. To date I have worn these only once. I have no idea what I'm going to do with these shoes. I'm still waiting for several sets of insoles to come in in the hopes that I can jerry rig a solution to the poor dimensions of these shoes. But, every time I look at them I am just filled with regret. I got these on a 50% off discount, but it's still a lot of money to throw out and that's all I want to do with these shoes.

Great Buy!
These shoes are comfortable out of the box. You do not have to break them in. I have ample space in the toe bed. I would definitely recommend these shoes.

My Go-To Hiking Shoes
Merrell's have been my go-to hiking shoes for over 15 years. They're comfortable right out of the box and don't need breaking in. The Agility Peak 5 is lightweight and packs well for traveling. I recently hiked the Salkantay Trail in Peru and was the only one in my group who didn't lose a toenail! My shoes were super comfortable even after 12+ miles of hiking a day. Excellent grip on the steep rocky trails.
