Why We Like The Moab 3 Mid Hiking Boot
The Moab 3 Mid Hiking Boot is our ticket to a good day on the trail. Leather and mesh in the upper mix strength with ventilation to ensure a lasting lifetime and fresher feet throughout the day. The mid-height is supported with a nylon arch shank to keep us from rolling an ankle if we slip on loose scree. Inside, it has extra cushioning where our feet are impacted most while outside a Vibram rubber sole provides unrelenting traction.

Great Boots!!!!
These boots needed no breaking in time for me. They were comfortable right away. I'm headed to Nepal in 4 days and these will be my hiking boots there.

Moab 3 Design Changes
Tried on the new women's Moab 3 Vent Mid. Lots of design changes. Like the new tread. The upper looks like it will be a bit more durable, especially in the toe area, however it is more stiff which may or may not work for some people. I did not mind that. I like the bracken brown color. However, the new insole/foot bed is where they lost me. I have been happily hiking through Moab 2 shoes for over a decade. Nothing matched their comfort. I have tried different Merrell's, but always come back to Moab 2 Vent Mid for their comfort. Unfortunately, the Moab 3 no longer has that light, instant marshmallow feel that I loved about the Moab 2. The foot bed is stiff and hitting pressure points instantly. It feels a bit like corrective orthopedics. Please bring back the old insole or whatever gave it that amazing feel. For other loyal Moab 2 wearers, you may want to try these on before buying your new pair to make sure the design changes still work for you. It is not the same shoe.

Excellent shoe.
Great shoe. Walked for hours in Pompeii and Herculaneum with no leg or back or foot fatigue. After 6 hours the August heat did me in!

Sturdy lightweight Ballers for your feet
I love these boots. They were comfortable right out of the box, and I quickly took them to the Adirondack High Peaks and did several long rugged hikes.

Great shoes, but firm
These shoes run true to size. It's very rare that I can find any kind of shoe that fits me properly because the front of my foot is wide, but my heels are narrow. These shoes fit perfectly - lots of room in the toe box, but no risk of my heel slipping out. There is great ankle support, and the materials used are sturdy. The treads are also really good. The only drawback for me is that the orthotics they come with are very firm. When I tried them on, my feet were hurting significantly after just one loop around my living room (note that I have a bone disorder, so I may be more sensitive than most). I'll be replacing the inserts with gel sport orthotics. Other than that, I'm really happy with them.

Very Comfortable Now
Arch is removable, was very uncomfortable, so I replaced it and that worked.

Great boots!
Bought these for a trip to Iceland. The ankle support was great for the uneven ground and the grip was super helpful for the wetter rocks and terrain.

Not waterproof
Second pair of Merrell and disappointed in the quality. No waterproofing or water repellant qualities. Took to Colorado for 3 weeks and have had wet feet many hikes. Would not buy again and would upgrade to a more water resistance material.
