Great shoes. Very comfortable and sturdy.

Runs small, stuck with a useless shoe.
Really disappointed with these shoes due to the design in the toe area. They run small and regrettably have been rendered useless since they were worn once and didn't stretch like all of the other Merrells I've had in the past. They are way too tight in the toes and cannot be worn or returned since the tag was removed. Otherwise, they have the beloved Vibram sole and would be a great hiking shoe if they were true to size.

I'm impressed so far...
My wife and I both bought Moab 3 Waterproof shoes for our upcoming trip to Costa Rica. After walking around for a week to break them in, we're thinking these will be the perfect shoe to take!

Great...but Stuffy!
Comfortable, with very little break-in needed. Good fit, true-to-size (for me). Very good traction in a variety of terrains, good all-around Vibram tread pattern. Performed much better for me than I've seen reviewed elsewhere (i.e. no problems on icy gravel or wet slick rock, compared with other trail runners or hiking shoes). Plenty durable for the kinds and lengths of trails I hike. Previous versions have lasted me 1-2 years of regular use and abuse. -1 star for being somewhat more water resistant than "waterproof". If you're hiking through wet grass long enough, water will eventually soak through. -1 star for lack of ventilation. They are stuffy! This is the only version of the Moabs I've worn that make my feet sweat to the point of being uncomfortable and blister prone. On cold outings they're fine, but be advised: wear them all day and your feet will end up soggy and gross from the inside.

Second try was the charm
First pair I received in the mail were defective. The left shoe made a popping sound each step out of the box. The ~2 week exchange process was easy enough. The second pair actually was a better color than the first and they didn’t have any defects to them. Had the first pair been defect-free like these, I would have given a 5* review.

Didn't need to be broken in
These are the only hiking shoes/boots I have ever had that were fully comfortable the minute I put them on and did not need to be broken in. I've now worn them for almost a month and they remain the best pair I have ever had.

Hiker/work shoe
Very comfortable hiker. I wear them as a work shoe around the yard, and at volunteer yard maintenance projects. No foot fatigue at all
