Why We Like The Moab 3 Wide Hiking Shoe
In the Moab 3 Wide, we see summit sunrises, backcountry ponds, and desert towers. The burly upper lets building heat out and cool breezes in, while the sticky sole gives us traction on loose earth and wet rock. No matter how far we go for an awe-inspiring view, the arch support and rugged foam stabilize and soften every stride.

Stitching not good
I did love the shoes for hiking until the stitching on the top started to let loose after just over 1 year.

A perfect shoe for a weird foot
Finally an off the shelf shoe that fits! And it functions as a lightweight hiker shoe that I was looking for. I will be using this shoe for easier hikes soon! My foot has a normal heel and a very wide forefoot. My backpacking boots were custom made and are saved for more aggressive trails.

High performance under bad weather
I bought this shoes for a trip in Costa Rica. During the trip there were raining everyday, and the trail around a volcano was so muddy, even more raining while hiking. Although the trail was so rough condition, I hiked very comfortably because the shoes resisted any wet mud. After the hours hiking under raining, the inside of shoes were not fully wet, next day the shoes were dried and no weird smell. Another favorite part of this shoes is that they have an option for wide feet. A lot of shoes for Western people are very narrow, but this wide version one fit my wide feet perfectly! I would recommend this shoes to anybody.

Comfy and Protective
These shoes are the best for hiking and mountain biking, so I have five pair, two waterproof. I'm out on desert trails with sand and volcanic rock. I use the oldest pair on the bike since the pedal cleats tend to chew up the tread a bit. They're good in light snow or 100 degree heat and they drain well after water crossings. I wear wool socks year-round.

Wide but not as wide
These are the Moabs that I got two years ago. However, the new wide is more narrow than the previous. So not 100% happy but still an overall good shoe.

Excellent except for slightly softer sole
I've been wearing Merrells with my prescription orthotics for years. These fit me great, leaving room for my toes. I don't hike, just use them for everything else: dog walking, workouts, any place I don't have to dress fancy. The one less than perfect thing I noticed on this pair, however, is that the sole is a little more squishy than the other pairs I've had. I prefer a real firm sole.

best hiking shoes
I tried several other hiking shoes before getting these, all losers. The Moab 3 are a sure winner. It is difficult to find shoes that say they are wide width and actually are wide width. These are definitely wide width. So very comfy. Feel very sturdy on the trails. Most of our hiking is in the Appalachian Mountains in N. Carolina.

Love these shoes!
Comfortable as soon as I put them on. The wide toe gives more room making it easier to put on and take off.
