Why We Like The Merrell Moab Speed 2 Thermo Mid WP Boot
To keep our toes cozy dry and our feet feeling light when trekking snow and ice covered trails, we lace into Merrell's Moab Speed 2 Thermo Mid WP Boot. The tall collar, gusseted tongue, built-in rock plate, and burly toe cap fights off trail debris and hidden rocks, while the heat-trapping fill and waterproof membrane shield us from the cold and the wet. Armor aside, the cushy midsole foam and biting outsole rubber stave off fatigue-causing distance and slips, affording us the energy to explore more.

Good boot but...
I've always been happy with Merrill foo/)wear so I bought the Moab Speed 2. It lives up to the expectations BUT there are some (new?) features that I don't like: The single open eyelet at the top of the laces has become two. And they have stingy retainers to help hold the lace. This seems unnecessary and results in frequent accidental misplacement of the lace. Secondly, the laces are of a smaller diameter. Worn-out/broken laces have been the most common failure in my experience with boots. It's possible these new laces are more resistant to abrasion but I still worry that their reduced calibre portends early failure, especially when they are called on to contend with twice as many open eyelets.

Moab
Very comfortable right out of the box as are most Merrell boots. Only real complaint hence 4 stars is the extremely light weight laces that come with them. Seems like a poor way to save money.

Great overall boot, could use more wateroofing
Very comfortable boots. Not as waterproof as I would have liked but still very decent in that regards (I'm a mailman who sometimes works 8+hrs in nonstop rain and have yet to find a fully waterproof boot that isn't solid rubber and extremely uncomfortable) the only uncomfortable portion is if I tie the laces all the way up the tongue are can become quite uncomfortable against the ankle in certain areas. Still reccommend as a overall decent hiking boot

Not waterproof
Supposed to be waterproof. My feet got wet first time walking across the grass which had dew on it.

Warm and comfortable
These boots are amazing. Warm, light, comfortable. Highly recommend. Wore these outside hicking and playing ball hockey in -30 and feet were warm and toasty. The grips on the Vibram soles work great in the snow and and worked great on slippery areas. Got them on sale. But worth full price.

Love them!
I purchased a pair of these last year and wore them on all but the deep snowy days. They are so comfortable, light and warm. The Vibram soles are super on slippery surfaces. The foot bed is a perfect shape for my foot. They are true to size. They have metal lace holders at the top not the ones made out of fabric which rip long before the shoe is worn out. I loved them so much I bought a pair for my partner who also loves them. It's a great show and I anticipate I will have them for a long time. I highly recommend them
