Mountain Hardwear AirMesh Long-Sleeve Crew Top
A single layer can have a bigger impact than you think. This layer may look unassuming, but once you have it on, you won't need anything else. Made with a unique active mesh, consisting of hollow, tube-like fibers with radial extensions that absorb sweat, quick-drying capabilities are at its highest, supporting insulation and heat-shielding properties to keep you cozy in the coldest conditions or even just at home, all while reducing weight by half compared to yarns of comparable thickness. The sheer possibilities are endless.

slightly clammy but overall excellent
I’ve worn the airmesh on several hikes and am impressed. It’s slightly more absorbent than polartec alpha direct but also more durable. I find it very comparable to primaloft active next/evolve at a lower price. My issue with alpha direct, especially in pants, is the tendency for other layers to pull out tufts. Not a problem with airmesh!

Immediately Bought Another For My Wife
Highest warmth I've ever gotten from a base layer this thin. Had to buy another one for my wife because she kept borrowing mine. Highly recommend.

Versatile and lightweight
This is the second AirMesh I have purchased after realizing it is the garment I reach for the most. It is deceptively warm for its light weight feel and takes some experience to dial it in as a layer depending on the activity. For me, it is too warm as a base or mid layer for strenuous hiking up the White Mountains in winter, but perfect to throw on as a mid during a stop or at the summit. It's a perfect base layer with a shell for skiing in most temps for me, and a great mid-layer when walking the dog in 20 degree weather.

Good base layer
Fantastically warm and comfortable, especially under a shell. 4 stars as it’s not as odor preventing as other base layers and I wish the cut was a bit longer to keep the back from riding up

Ideal midlayer
Airmesh solves alpha direct's problems with snagging for a minimal weight penalty. The marginally decreased airflow makes Airmesh more usable as an active midlayer, resulting in superior performance in real-world conditions.

Magic shirt
How can a shirt keep you cool and yet warm and comfortable?? Wearing just the AirMesh, feels like I am not wearing a shirt. But as a base layer in the winter, it is my favorite shirt for any outdoor activity. I immediately bought another...

Not MHW worthy as a product
Material is not up to MHW standards, returned as it was very scratchy as a base layer.

Very unique fabric. Works as a base layer should.
Reviewing this from the POV of an end user & tech fabric geek. Love the materials of the MH AirMesh. Already have the hoody; just bought the crew. Agree w/ those who say it's very warm when at standstill or w/ a wind layer over top, yet while moving or with wind and no wind layer it's like being naked. To me that says the fabric is functioning precisely how a base layer shoulder. Only con is hypothetical: delicate fabric. I've had no issues with snags, pilling, abrasion, etc. But I wouldn't be surprised were I to, given the softness of the fibers and the openness of the fabric they're arranged into. Cut/fit are unremarkable w/ exception of the somewhat high neck hole and the different accent fabric used there. Packs tiny, resilient fibers bounce back into shape immediately. Most comparable to the Patagonia Cap Air wool base layer, minus the itchiness/roughness and the ultra premium price point. Also, like Polartec Power Stretch pro, but much lighter and more airy fabric, fwiw.

Packs down to nothing
I recently purchased a red version of the AirMesh. I find it incredibly warm for its weight. Packs down to nothing which is very helpful.

Excellent fabric
Hands down the most versatile piece of technical apparel I own. Like owning a base layer of polartec alpha.
