Great Bag - Needs Waist & Sternum Straps

This is a sturdy classic duffel - one zipper down the middle opens well, but could be wider if a U-zip flap opening were used. Fabric is durable. Compression straps inside are moderately helpful. Interior drawstring compartment is convenient for storing dirty clothes. Grab handles on the ends of the duffel are great for getting out of overhead bins on airplanes. I bought the purple and love the color and Mountain Hardware logo on the side - very sharp. Have used it for a week-long trip and thought it was great. Used primarily in backpack mode to get through airports. Comparing it to Patagonia Black Hole 40L. Necessary Upgrades: Waist Belt & Sternum Strap In packing this bag with a week's worth of clothes, it gets pretty heavy. It doesn't come with any additional support belts. I found a removable waist belt at another retailer and it was a life saver (see images). Any bag that is at 40L or more should anticipate being heavy when fully packed and provide additional straps. I plan on getting a sternum strap to help hold the upper part of the bag closer to my back. These two straps would help take the load off the shoulders. Desired but not necessary upgrades: Move the exterior zip pocket to the other end of the duffel. In this design, the pocket is on the bottom of the bag when wearing it as a backpack. I won't put anything in there, for fear of having it fall out if the zipper gets caught and comes undone. This pocket would be better placed on the end that is the top of the backpack. When I set it down on the floor, that end is facing up and would be easier to access (to get things like a wallet, passport, keys, etc.). U-zip flap main compartment opening. This would make it easier for the duffel to stay open for easier access to contents. Overall, it is a great pack that I will use until I'm ready to pass it down to one of my kids for their adventures!

Works but no structure to bag

The lack of structure makes the bag difficult to use if it’s not stuffed completely full. Everything slides to the middle then it folds in on itself. Feels more like your carrying around a sack
