PNW Proof

Got raiiiiined on this weekend - or rather my new shell did! This thing really took a beating during a recent rainy day on the mountain, but it really held up well. Another skier even commented on how dry I looked while I (snowboarder) struggled along a soggy cat track. My top half stayed pretty dry even while my bibs / lower half soaked through. Will def be a mainstay in my layering portfolio

Wind proof, and light weight.

Like one of the other buyers I was initially shocked at how thin the jacket is. It really is like a raincoat, but that is the definition of a shell. It’s meant for layering. The super power of the jacket is that it is wind proof. And I mean wind proof. Skiing in single digits with 20-30mph gusts and the jacket kept me warm. I was throughly layered underneath with base layers, a vest and a puffy down jacket, so I was well prepared. I was toasty warm even on the windy lift ride, except when I forgot to zip up the jacket all the way. With the jacket being so thin I was able to use it for Nordic skiing as well, just didn’t layer as much underneath. Just a great all around/all purpose jacket.

Shockingly thin (new to ski shells; no uses)

Maybe I'm new to ski shells, but this "snow jacket" was shockingly thin. Felt more like a windbreaker or rain jacket. I feared I'd be too cold in it even with layering, so I returned it.

Very lightweight...maybe too light

I'm sure it would be an excellent water proof layer, but it does seem a bit thin for being '3 layer goretex'. I like to ride a lot of tight trees and I'm considering returning this for a slightly more burly 3L goretex jacket that I'd trust to hold up to a few tree branch scrapes. If you are looking for a lightweight waterproof layer this would be great though, love the fit, I'm skinny and 6'5" and the XL fits perfectly.

Great Shell

Awesome jacket, fits well and is perfect for backcountry. Thumb bungees are great and the pockets are all great sizes

Go-to shell

I usually aim to get close to 100 days on snow every winter. 95% of those days I’m reaching for this shell. It’s extremely versatile. Lightweight, water-proof, and easy to layer beneath this piece is perfect for long walks in the backcountry as well as spinning laps at your local resort. 10/10
