Why We Like The Mountain Stretch Tight
Softer than your average baselayer, the Mountain Stretch Tight from Mountain Hardwear goes beyond keeping us warm at the resort and actually travels with us for everything from grocery shopping to fatbiking. A soft, stretchy fabric works its magic to wick sweat away as we exert ourselves during active days, while the two side drop-in pockets offer quick and easy storage, which is a rarity in baselayers nowadays.

Fabric is amazing, fit not so much
From a technical standpoint these tights are amazing. I've hiked in them multiple days in a row and they don't smell. They stay comfortable in a wide range of temps, even hiking uphill when I typically overheat like crazy, and they're warm even down in the 30s F just walking around town (haven't tried in colder temps yet). But the big problem with them is the fit - I have a shapely behind and these turn into saggy butt in the first 5 minutes of wearing them, and no matter how many times I pull them up it keeps happening. It's such a shame because they're extremely functional pants otherwise. For sizing reference: I'm 5'7" and 130 pounds and got a size small.

Love them!
- Size Bought:
- Large

- 5' 6"
I purchased these based on the reviews and boy was everyone right! These are so comfortable, thin but warm. I own several Lulu and Athleta tights and these are by far my favorite of any tights I own.

If you're tall they'll be 7/8 but they are great!
They fit great, but they're shorter than expected. I'm 5'10", 185 and large works.

Great!
Second pair of these. Stiffer more durable material than similar tights. Nice for running and hiking trails and general outdoor adventuring. They're not like suction to your legs tights. I like that.

Great for a base layer
I wore these in Canada last month in mid teens to low 20s. No issues and was warm enough with these and insulated pants. Others in our group had 3 layers and were still cold. Impressed enough I bought another pair when I got back.

Love these - addtl note on sizing
On fit, if you have a slender build, maybe size down. As mentioned, I have M & S in different colors. Fabric is opaque, but not heavy. M fits me generously and comfortably. S is my correct size, no extra fabric. I'm long-waisted and rise is pefect. Length: All non-capri inseams are too long for me, but these have less extra length than many - something to be aware of if you're tall / have long legs. I'm 5ft zero, 140lbs, aging stocky athletic build with sprinter thighs, butt, calves, getting thick around the waist. Used to be a 4-6 at 120lbs, now a 6-8. For comparison, other legwear I love right now: Patagonia Wind Shield pants size S, Rab Horizon tights size S. These Mtn Hardwear tights are great as a base layer under both.

Love these
Love these as a liner tight for winter. Have 2 pair, M blue & S black. No regrets. Expecting I'll wear in spring/summer as single layer with hiking skirts. Also see these as good for travel because of weight, comfort & drying time. The black at least could be worn without a skirt, if you do that sort of thing :) Really like the fabric. It is not spandex. Does not seem to hold moisture, in a good way. They are not pants - would not expose them to much abrasion. Activity: so far mostly running & walking in windy rain, snow & sleet as the liner layer under another more weather-facing tight like the Winter Journey etc
