Why We Like The Mountain Hardwear Phantom Belay Down Parka
Fall and winter climbing adventures call for a lightweight but technical jacket to get us through less-than-ideal weather. The Mountain Hardwear Phantom Belay Down Parka was made for just that and features a durable, lightweight, and water-resistant recycled nylon fabric to keep us moving through harsh environments. An 800-fill power RDS-certified down insulation for cold-weather comfort. Additional synthetic insulation was added at the shoulders and lower sleeves to help eliminate cold spots, and the helmet-compatible, insulated hood is adjustable so we can stay covered up when climbing.

Like Wearing A Sleeping Bag
I bought this for my wife and she absolutely loves it. She says it's like wearing a sleeping bag. She normally wears a size small shirt, so we ordered a size medium jacket. It is big enough that it fits over all of the other gear she is wearing, no need to stop and remove layers in order to fit this one on. We look forward to putting it through it's paces next winter.

Warm jacket
Very warm jacket, perfect for mountaineering. The fit is roomy enough to fit layers underneath, but not too big.

Don’t wait to buy this parka
I waited too long to buy this parka, using my Phantom jacket instead for several years. Yet the Phantom belay parka kept me so toasty camping on Mt. Rainier as well as belaying in 40+ mph wind gusts while mixed climbing. I love that it goes over my harness easily, and the second zip makes it so my booty stays warm and covered while I still have access to my belay loop. The material is also really hardy—I scraped it against some rough granite walls while climbing up a chimney, and no holes or anything. I usually wear a small but bought medium so I can fit it over a fully loaded harness and other layers.
