Why We Like The Mountain Hardwear Premonition UL Jacket
When we need a stowable rain shell for surprise showers on our hikes and climbs, we like the Premonition UL Jacket from Mountain Hardwear. The Pertex Shield materials provides lightweight water protection that maintains breathability while adding passive underarm vents to help us dump additional heat and moisture during high-output activities. This ultralight shell is also climber-friendly with a helmet-compatible hood and a two-way zipper and elevated front pockets to accommodate our climbing harness or hip belts. Highly packable and only weighing 9 ounces, the Premonition UL is our stow-and-go ultralight shell for our mountain adventures.

Fits great, not so tight or too baggy.

I feel like MH can be hit or miss in some quality and for the price of this jacket, I expect the best. I believe it’s a well made jacket and fits me perfect with a light or heavy sweater on. Perfect wind breaker as well. Loved the blue color. I bought this hoping it’s way more watereproof than my last brand jacket. I got caught in heavy rain and was wet almost immediately and it made me hunt for what I hope will be better experience next time around with this jacket. Haven’t had a chance to find out yet.

Dry in heavy rain
I have been in several downpours, one was for 3 hours. All dry. I was rowing my drift boat, could breath a little better. There is always a compromise.

Awesome shell!
The design of this jacket is very well thought out. The size and cut is awesome, just the right length. The oversized hood shrinks down and fits snug on your head with a nice brim. The pit vents are perfectly placed which is awesome with the large front pocket/vents. It’s very lightweight and storable which is a bonus. It looks good, and if you read up on the tech in this jacket on the pertex website, it’s pretty cool

The ultimate super light alpine jacket
This is my dream alpine climbing jacket. The cut and fit is superb with excellent underarm lift and pockets that I can access with a harness on. The hood fits well over a helmet and the elastic trim allows the hood to move side to side with my head.
