Why We Like The Stretchdown Hooded Jacket
Positioned as one of our favorite technical midlayers, the Stretchdown Hooded Jacket is great for layering under a rain jacket on a blustery hike, or wearing on its own to the brewery. The 700-fill goose down effectively traps warmth, breathes with us, and packs down easily once we switch from belaying to climbing.

Color doesn’t match
Normally I love Mountain Hardwear products, and this one certainly feels high quality, however the color shown online and in person are very different. I guess I should have looked at the men’s version, in which the color matched the photo/model. Not the worst but definitely less excited about wearing it.

Not for winter
The coat is much thinner than expected. The sleeves are too short for my comfort. I find this to be the case with most brands unfortunately. The size chart has me at a size small but I sized up to a medium for a tad longer arm length and to wear a sweatshirt underneath. This will be a spring, summer and possibly fall coat vs a warm winter coat for me.

Love it!
I love the stretch down jackets. The black one was my most recent, I have a green and blue one. I just wish they were a little longer!

My second one! Love it! Warm and comfy!
This is my second mountain hardware stretch down jacket. Super for snowboarding and just going to and from work daily.

Great jacket!!
This jacket is warm and comfortable. So far I’ve only used it for walking the dogs but it will be put to the test fat biking, and skiing. I ordered a small and feel like it runs on the big side compared to some of my other insulated MH jackets.

Too large and lightweight
My previous stretch down hoodie had a very durable stretchy fabric and much more down filling. It was "true to size". I wore it hard for quite a few years years. This version is very disappointing, I agree with other 2 star reviewers. The fabric is thin, the coat is large and boxy, and there is not much down insulation. I plan to return it asap, but mountain hardware will not allow me to use another carrier during the Can Post strike.

Did not meet expectations
The previous version of this jacket fit true to size, was rugged, stretchy and had significantly more fill. This jacket was too big, the fabric was thinner and the fill was very lightweight.

never received the product
I placed my order on 10/16/24. Fedex delivered my jacket to the wrong address on 10/22/24. I an email from Fedex that my package was lost on 10/25/2024. I immediately contacted Backcountry and forwarded Fedex email to them. After chatting to backcountry multiples times, I still have not received any update nor refund.
