Why We Like The Mountain Hardwear Threshold Jacket

The Mountain Hardwear Threshold Jacket helps us stay dry when wet weather blows in. The waterproof, breathable 3-layer shell keeps out the wet stuff, while the underarm ventilation zippers open up to keep us cooler and drier if we start to sweat in a summer thunderstorm. The Threshold Jacket does everything we need for an everyday rain jacket, but it also packs down into its hand pocket to stuff into our backpack or attach to our pack or harness with its internal carabiner clip loop. And not only is this jacket waterproof and packable, but its use of recycled materials brings us some eco-friendly peace of mind.

Zipper gets stuck a lot

Good coat but the zipper always gets hung up at the top unless you have the hood on to keep the zipper lined up. Pretty annoying.

Nice Jacket but...

Nice Jacket. The waterproof membrane treatment is a big improvement, no more mesh covering the raw membrane. The finish inside and out feels high quality. There is elastic to tighten the hood around your skull, but there is no longer a way to cinch the hood opening. I like to be able to fully seal out the cold and wind and would use this feature especially when not wearing the hood to seal the neck. The waist elastic is only able to tighten via an adjustment slider in the right pocket. If you like it cinched tight like I do, the cord will be very long in your pocket.

Almost Perfect

Almost Perfect. Good quality, fit, and style in a lightweight rain jacket. Its only shortcoming is lack of a two way zipper which would be extremely useful in a jacket of this type.

Decent water protection with flaws

Not suitable for southeastern rain showers. The jacket keeps me decently dry, but water puddles in the pockets. After a moderate shower, there was probably 1/4 cup of water in each pocket, which I don’t know can be attributed to condensation and makes the pockets useless for storage. It also does not breathe well in the humidity of NC.

Great cut for guys around 5’9”

I am 5’9” at 175lbs with an average build. The medium is not too loose and feels great!! The sleeves are tad long but not bad at all. I had the zipper catch a couple times over a past couple days, but that’s me rushing. The cut works very well with my height. The only thing that bothers me is the jacket pitches a tent by the stitching in the midsection of the jacket when you sit down.
