The Sixer 12L Soft Cooler
As the name implies, the Sixer Soft Cooler holds a six-pack (bottles or cans) of your favorite beverages which is perfect for you and five friends, or less. However, you divvy up the drinks, they'll stay cold in the PE foam insulation and the melted ice won't leak out of the PEVA waterproof and seam-sealed liner. The Sixer comes equipped with a removable shoulder strap.

The cooler Yeti couldn't make
- Familiarity:

20 years ago, I inherited a yellow Mountainsmith cooler. Well, inherited is probably the wrong word. It just showed up at my house and I have no idea where it came from. To be honest, I didn't even know the brand name of it. I just referred to it as my yellow cooler. It soon became my go-to cooler for weekend kayak camping trips as it was one of the few larger coolers that could be shoved into my narrow hatch openings. More than that, ice stayed ice for much longer than in those smaller 6-pack coolers. Eventually, that cooler gave up the ghost and I had to replace it. I looked into all sorts of other coolers. The Yetis are good but they're too rigid and have way too much wasted insulation space that I can't afford in my hatch. So I kept searching...remember...I didn't even know the yellow cooler was a Mountainsmith. But then, searching on Backcountry I saw the anvil logo and it all came back to me. It was a Mountainsmith! Now, I will say that the new version is a tad bulkier and thicker than the old yellow one. But it still stuffs into my hatch pretty easily and keep stuff cold for longer than you'd expect. I love it.
