Not Up to MSR Standards
I purchased a Freelite 2 tent and then the Universal 2P footprint. I don’t mind not having grommets in the corners but why have an attached carry bag?!? It’s unnecessary and just adds weight. Does anyone ever actually use a footprint bag for a backpacking tent?!? If I cut it off will it impact the integrity of the footprint? How have others dealt with this issue? I expected better from MSR.

unpleasant smell
I am frustrated with this footpring (universal , regular, for hubba solo) as it has a very unpleasant odor. My entire appartments smalls from that. Can the manufacturer explain why? Also, the footprint is labeled “cancer and reproductive harm - p65Warnings.ca.gov”. Why? Is this (whatever Chemical) really needed for the function (risk benefit?). I also bought the hubba solo tent. It does hot carry that warning label.

not good
how you meant to set it as just a footprint without metal inserts? Had a hubba bubba from 20 years back and that had them gromets.. also for bikepacking Hubba tent it seems a bit small.

Great light weight
Great light weight footprint but MSR needs to do a video or PDF on how to fold it up to fit in the integrated bag.

Useless
Useless footprint, no grommets to attach to the tent pole. Useless pocket that can collect water. This one was a total failure.

Sub standard. Expeted much better from MSR.
As others have stated. - No grommets for attaching to the poles: tying knots in paracord is hardly an acceptable workaround for a premium tent. - Dimensions not perfectly tailored to specific tent sizes - Built-in pocket makes little sense. This is a minor issue in my opinion. Then again, having to resort to modifying your brand new tent with a pair of scissors just feels wrong. I own a lot of MSR gear and for the first time seriously considered replacing original piece of kit with something from Aliexpress.

Not universal
Echoing the other reviews - this is useless. MSR: bring back the matching footprints for each tent with grommets. We spend hundreds of dollars on a tent and are failed by an I'll decision on the footprint design. People will pay for a footprint to match their tent, so there's no way this is a loss of profit for you to cut corners and not have corresponding footprints. This is absolute garbage MSR.

first, need to cut the pocket (why, you add this !). Second, I was decided to buy it to allow to build the tent under a rainfall keeping me dry. Unfortunately, I needed to find a solution with the small rope. It should be more useful with small ring to insert the tent pole . Third, 200 g for 2P floor. Please, review your article.

No real footprint - Generic Suck
MSR really missed the boat here, 1st - adding a pocket onto footprint to store the footprint, that is added weight, I cut mine off. I have always stored my footprint folded dirty end inside and then rolled with tent. 2nd, this leaving out the grommets and using string, garbage. I loved the old footprints and going fly with footprint was so easy, everything clicked right into the grommets and bingo bango all done. Get rid of the generic footprints and bring back the old design, using grommets and no sewn in storage pocket. I have searched to the ends of the internet looking for the holy grail, the Nubba Hubba 2 person original footprint. No such luck.
