Why We Like The Bridger 65L Backpack
A favorite of ours for its no-frills construction, the Bridger 65L Backpack features a traditional backpacking bag design but adds more places to stow our gear and a breathable, sturdy frame and support. Adjusting and fine-tuning the yoke year after year brought Mystery Ranch to this current version where it is now more supportive and ventilated than ever so we can avoid the dampness and discomfort of long days hiking to far-out locations. The Bridger also has a dual access main compartment so we can easily grab items without having to dig through the whole thing. We like that the removable lid doubles as a waist pack for fun side missions on lengthy multi-night excursions.

Like it so far
Hip belt webbing WAY too long. Lower sternum strap too short (i am 5’10” and 175lbs so not a big belly). Was skeptical of lower compartment zipper design but it does make access easier. Shoulder strap pockets are nice but can be a little hard to pull things out of. Have used pack for 6 days so far and I think it’s a keeper.

This pack is durable, light, and loaded with tons of features. I purchased this pack because I love my Mystery Ranch fire pack. So far this one lives up to the quality Mystery Ranch reputation.

Pretty innovative new design of shoulder straps for carrying heavy weight. Super comfortable even loaded up. Great design with lots of pockets and places to store items. Really very happy with this purchase! Backcountry is a great company. Second time purchasing from them. Quick and responsive

Shoulder Strap Uncomfortable
I've owned the Bridger 65 for just over a year and have taken it on many multi-day trips, so I wanted to provide some feedback based on my experience. While this pack has several great features, unfortunately, they don't function as well as I had hoped. The main issue I’ve encountered is with the Yoke/Water Bottle chest strap/shoulder strap design. In theory, the water bottle pockets are a fantastic idea, but in practice, it's nearly impossible to fit a water bottle into them if the pack is strapped down tightly. This design flaw also contributes to the overall discomfort of the shoulder straps. I’ve attempted to adjust the pack so that it is comfortable, however I’ve not been able to make this pack fit comfortably. If you have any chest or pectoral development, this pack becomes especially uncomfortable. The padding in the shoulder straps doesn't extend far enough into the chest region, and as a result, the thin material in the chest pockets digs into your armpit area. A potential solution to this issue would be offering different shoulder strap options to accommodate various body types. Regrettably, I will be transitioning to a new pack. It's disappointing, as I had high hopes for what seemed like a great design feature, but ultimately, this pack didn’t meet my expectations. It ended up being an expensive test for a design that didn't work out for me.

Good for most
I want to start by saying I have the coulee pack and give it 5 stars, love that thing. But the Bridget is different. I felt it was comfortable with no weight, but once weight was applied it was a different story. Had close to 40 lbs. on a trip to Buffalo River, and can say that I hurt. I am athletic build with what is called a bubble butt. The frame drops below the hip pad, and finds a nice spot to dig on the upper part of my butt. If have to step up on something the still planted leg gets it even worse. By the end of 8.5 miles I couldn’t think of anything I’d rather not do, than to put on the pack. I emailed Mystery Ranch and they thought it wasn’t adjusted right. I’ve backpacked most of my life and know well how to adjust packs, but I did what they said. I walked around with 30 lbs in my house for an hour and my butt wasn’t happy. So the back pad of the belt is at my lower back and the two points of the frame on the top part of my butt. So I would recommend for most people that like organization and don’t mind the weight. Wouldn’t recommend for people built like me or want a more streamline lighter weight pack.

Best pack ever!!!
Bought this pack to replace my Glacier 70L for a backpacking trip in the Tetons. This pack so super comfortable. I had no issues with any pinching at the waist and loads of comfort at my shoulders. The pack was loaded with features and pockets for gear. We did a 3 day 2 night trip through the Tetons and had no issues. My buddy wore the pack and was blown away at how comfortable the pack was loaded down. I highly recommend this pack for anyone that just wants a “one and done” pack. Mystery ranch nails it again!!

BRIDGER 65
I BOUGHT THIS BAG FOR SOME UPCOMING LONG WEEKEND BACKPACKING TRIPS. I NOTED A FAVORABLE REVIEW ONLINE AND BEGAN DRILLING INTO THE COMPANY AND THE PRODUCT. WHAT CAUGHT MY ATTENTION WAS IT NOT BEING A SUPER LITE PACK, BUT A PACK THAT WOULD RIDE WELL, AND SUPPORT THE WEIGHT EVENLY. IN ADDITION, IT HAD FEATURES ON IT THAT OTHERS DID NOT - HAVING THE FRONT SIDE WATER POCKETS IS A GAME CHANGER. HAVING THE ABILITY TO USE THE TOP HALF AS A FANNY PACK I ALSO FOUND TO BE A GREAT SOLUTION TO GIVE EASIER ACCESS TO NEEDED THINGS ON TRAIL. SO, IT WAS OBVIOUS THAT MYSTERY RANCH PUT A LOT OF THOUGHT INTO THESE PACKS AND HOW IT WOULD WORK ON THE TRAIL. I AM 2 WEEKS OUT FROM MY TRIP AND LOOK FORWARD TO TESTING IT ON TRAIL. BUT I CAN SEE IN COMPARISON TO OTHER PACKS I OWN AND TESTING IT OUT THAT I AM GOING TO HAVE A POSITIVE EXPERIENCE.

Fantastic Option!
Probably one of the best packs I’ve used in recent future. Love that the main pack can be accessed from the top or the side. Harness is one of the best I’ve ever had, comfortable and sturdy. It doesn’t dig into your hips at all and has extra storage for small things and snacks. Probably should have bought this pack a long time ago. Really can’t go wrong, no complaints overall. Would buy again!

Has anyone ever carried this pack onto a plane? It's slightly taller than the dimensions at the airport, but obviously people have bags bigger than that. Just curious, thanks!

Can you remove the yoke and attach it to the brain (hip pack) to make it into a day pack like I’ve seen older videos explaining? Just got one of these bad boys in Wood colour! Only had Medium (I’m 5”10.5” 180 lbs) hopefully sized right?

Are there strap extenders that are compatible with the bottom straps of the pack? With the sleeping bag compartment loaded, the bottom straps are barely long enough to strap a sleeping pad or tent to the outside bottom of the pack.

Is the yoke and waist belt on a L bridger 45 the same size and interchangeable with the yoke and waist belt of a L bridger 65? Meaning, if I have a M bridger 65, could I take a yoke and waist belt from a Bridger 45 and make the M 65 into a L 65?

What is the size of the sleeping bag compartment? I have a military MMS sleeping system including the the green and black sleeping bags and the gortex bivy cover. I want to now if the sleeping bag compartment is big enough for this sleeping system.

I recently purchased the Bridger 65 in a Men’s L/XL size. I am 5'9", weigh 176 lbs, have a torso length of 20 inches, and a hip measurement of 36 inches. Is this the correct size for me? Should I keep this pack? Thank you!
