Great travel companion
This little pack has been the perfect travel companion. I like to 'carry on' travel as often as possible - even a two week long trip to the UK and Ireland. As I can never truly get away from work my second bag has to be my computer bag holding a substantial amount of work related items. As such its hard to repurpose as a day pack. For me this leaves out the option of a day pack once on the ground. Enter the In and Out. It truly packs down small and takes up little room in my computer bag and once at my destination becomes an extremely effective day pack for touring about, shopping, hiking and going to the beach. It also worked great as an on-slope pack when on a ski trip last winter. This has been a 'go-to' standard for my traveling kit. Highly recommended.

My sidekick
I bought this pack a little over a month ago to be a low profile pack that I can every day carry to work either in my truck where it sits in my passenger seat or when I take the train into work. It’s great, well made, handsome and fits my yeti coffee cup in the side pocket perfectly and very securely. If the only thing it did was carry my coffee, I’d be happy, but it has pockets for my ever expanding gear that I carry and the pack shapes nicely with the small dry bag that I keep inside it. The quality of workmanship and design details are superb and even though it’s a humble pack compared to the rest of Mystery Ranch’s packs, it’s a contender! I was super stoked that I got this pack just a few days after ordering it and I haven’t left home without it ever since. Brilliantly done Mystery Ranch! Oh yeah, I also use it as a stuff sack/organizer inside my MR Blitz 30 when out on a ruck in the Cascade Mountains.

how is the bag this comfortable?
just got back from a week of long hikes, bikes & climbs & I had one of these strapped on for all of it. I've never had good experiences with packable day bags but I'm glad I gave this one a shot because it was excellent! super comfortable all day & weighs basically nothing. Comfortable even with 2L of water & some gear! also of course it seems to be indestructible

*TOP SECRET REVIEW* CLEARANCE REQUIRED
Let me tell you, folks, they don’t want you to know about the Mystery Ranch In and Out 19. I’m talking government-level secrecy. I’m talking Roswell, Area 51, men-in-black-staring-at-you-from-the-corner-of-the-parking-lot levels of conspiracy. But guess what? I’ve got the truth right here, strapped to my back, and it’s lightweight, packable, and potentially from another dimension. The Mystery Ranch In and Out 19 doesn’t just carry your gear—it carries the burden of knowledge that we’re not alone. This 19-liter wonder was clearly designed by extraterrestrials, likely reverse-engineered from UFO wreckage they found near a New Mexico desert. I mean, how else can you explain its otherworldly design and functionality? Exhibit A: The material is lightweight but suspiciously durable. It’s almost like they blended carbon nanotubes with alien alloys, then wrapped it in something soft to the touch but strong enough to fend off intergalactic threats (or at least some thorny brush on a hike). No mere earthbound polymer could achieve this. I’ve seen classified files about “advanced textiles,” but nothing like this. Exhibit B: It packs into itself! Yeah, that’s right. You’re telling me this thing can fold down smaller than my government-issued UFO tracker? Tell me that’s normal. It’s like it knows when I need it. One second it's a full-on hiking pack, the next it vanishes into thin air, tucked away in my glovebox like some sort of interdimensional artifact. It’s compact, inconspicuous, and probably has a secret compartment to hold alien documents or, you know, snacks. Exhibit C: The breathability. Who thought of this? Who decided, “Hey, let’s make the straps so light that you barely feel them”? It’s like the pack was designed for those extra-terrestrial beings who travel faster than light and don’t need sweaty backs weighing them down during long-distance abductions. Forget NASA. This is the real space-age technology. Exhibit D: The 19 liters. Nineteen liters is exactly what you need to carry provisions for an extended alien stakeout. I checked the math. You could carry binoculars, a flask, some tinfoil hats, a radar detector, and still have room for an X-Files box set in there. It’s almost like the designers knew what we’d be up to. Let’s talk pockets. The stretchy side pocket—definitely designed for holding alien energy crystals, but they also fit a water bottle. Coincidence? I think not. And the zippered top pocket? Perfect size for your intergalactic passport or, you know, an energy bar if you’re on a terrestrial hike. I was on a “recon mission” (aka hiking in the woods, totally normal), and the pack just molded to me. No bouncing, no shifting. Almost like it was communicating with my back. Are we looking at advanced alien ergonomics? Almost definitely. Conclusion: The Mystery Ranch In and Out 19 backpack is the smoking gun of outdoor gear. Sure, it looks like just another backpack—that’s what they want you to think. But for those in the know, it’s a clear sign that they’re out there, sharing their technology with us, one ultralight, ultra-packable backpack at a time. In summary, if you're looking for a pack that combines cutting-edge tech with probable alien origins, look no further. Just be careful. I’m pretty sure the moment I bought it, a black SUV started following me. Coincidence? I’ll let you decide.

Perfect travel bag
My wife and I wanted something for an upcoming trip to Disney world to put our rain jackets, water and snacks in. This pack was perfect, it folds up small enough to put in our luggage and was comfortable enough to wear all day every day. There is plenty of storage for day trips. We got the blaze orange one so it was easier to find each other in the crowds of people. Also I will be using it on my upcoming scouting trips for hunting season! Perfect all around bag.

My favorite travel day pack
This day-pack is my favorite, I've used it for for traveling in Europe, Australia, and elsewhere. One of the best features is that it folds into its own front pocket, which I absolutely love for plane travel. Yet it's huge when you need it to be, and cinches small when you only have minimal things to carry. The backpack offers plenty of storage and has space for a bladder, as well as a bottle. It's incredibly lightweight, possessing all the right features you need without any unnecessary extras. Just a thoughtful design...

Nothing like the photos
The color is so different than the lilac it was supposed to be on the photos that I am disappointed. It is rather grey than lilac. If I would have known, I would have picked a different color. :-(

Does everything a jansport does, but worse.
I've been using this daily for 3 years and here are my takeaways. - The straps have a suggestion of padding but it doesn't do anything. They're not at all rigid and frequently get twisted up. - The top pocket is just big enough for a protein bar and keys, not much more. - Too small for most things, but also too big for use in the city (you might as well get a fanny pack or a bigger backpack). - the mesh rips easily. - the elastic on top of the water bottle pocket is too strong and thick, it makes it so you can't easily get a water bottle in/out of there. Also too small for a nalgene. - the mesh pocket on the front fits a nalgene, but then you lose use of that pocket. - the novelty of having a stowable backpack fades as soon as you realize that the chances of you using the backpack for that purpose are next to zero, unless you're specifically looking for a backpack with these features. - the synch straps are awkwardly placed and hard to tighten/loosen. - there's plenty of places to put stuff on the outside of the backpack, but when it comes to actually putting anything there it just doesn't work really well. This backpack is pretty much built to not be used, or to make it look like you go outside when you really don't.

Is the Aura color a light purple or a light gray? I can’t tell in the pics.

Will a platypus big zip evo hydration bladder fit the reservoir pocket?
September 24, 2021
Hydration reservoirs come in different shapes even with the same capacity. Will the In and Out 19 hold a hydration reservoir that is 9 in wide and 17.2 in tall? In other words, will a short and wide 3L hydration reservoir fit in the In and Out 19?

Washing instructions ?

I read the Hydration Pocket is 9" X 6". Can you recommend a water system that fits into those dimensions? Most of the ones I have found do not, but because this bag is well designed, I assume there is one that fits. Please, suggestions?

Is the blue in the video still available. It looks different than the one in the order selection?

What are the dimensions of the hydration reservior pocket? Could it hold a small laptop or tablet?

Can I add a hip belt? If this bag had a detachable hip belt I would purchase in a flash.

If the side water bottle pocket was larger I’d buy this immediately. So many complaints on that. Is there a version of this bag with a larger water bottle pocket? To fit a Nalgene bottle perhaps?

Is there a video on how to fold the in and out pack?
