An absolute beast
I am thoroughly impressed by the quality of this backpack. My load was 16–22kg for the 600km 30k mAlt thruhike from Scuol to Trieste over the Dolomites. And it was so comfortable! The ability to precisely adjust the back lenght and the hip belt are just next level. I also appreciated the 2 long pockets to organize stuff I could access quickly. The ability to load something between pack and frame is the feature that sold me on this one. I am a painter and my pochade box fit perfectly. There are numerous ways to attach things, like a solar panel. Of course, I could lament the weight of this pack, but I’d rather carry a bit more for this level of versatility and comfort. And it is tough. Nothing broke. Amazing. Thank you for making this.

Perfect for my needs
I bought a Bridger 45 to use as a 72-hour Go Bag some time ago, and absolutely love the Bridger, and all of its’ great features, but it proved to be too small for the 72-hour Go Bag components that I needed to hold. Truth be told, I look at a 72-hour Go Bag as a long-term bag, considering that it is what you will have on your back if you have to go, so it needs to potentially hold items for longer-term. I am Army Special Forces, so this concept is baked into my DNA from years of training and on the ground experiemce. The Terraframe 80 will hold everything you need and more, and it fits extremely well and feels lighter than it actually weighs while carrying it. The option of expanding it to hold other items between the frame and the pack, like hunting supplies, a larger tent, game, or even a plate carrier and kit is also huge. One note, also based on my background, is that I personally want a smaller version of the kit to sustain me if I have to drop the pack and run. The top pack can certainly hold some of those basics, but you have to detach it and then also detach the shoulder straps from the frame to carry it, which isn’t very fast. To mitigate that, I also purchased an In And Out 19 pack and put my drop and run supplies in there, and place it on top of the pack and then close the top over it, and that works out perfectly. You can also then use the In And Out 19 for short forays if needed. The BL is that the Terraframe 80 meets all of my needs and I highly, highly recommend it for use as a 72-hour + Go Bag, but also for general pack purposes. It is impressive. I would also recommend the In And Out 19 to use in conjunction with it as described, and I attached Forager Pockets to either side of the hip belt on the main bag to carry lights, radios, and etc. for easy access. Well done, Mystery Ranch.

Great backpack for long journeys
I bought this backpack to go hike the Trans Catalina Trail in October. I live in middle of the country and need a little bigger pack to hold some extra items when traveling. I have packed and have used the backpack around the trail at home and enjoy the extra padding and comfort this pack provides. I have a Bridger 65 and really like the pack but I need a little more space.

Awesome pack, wish they'd make a women's version
I bought this pack for my husband, who I'm starting to drag out on backpacking trips. It's his first pack ever. The fitting process was a little confusing, but he's a logistical wizard so he got it figured out at home before we set off. I wanted to steal his pack for our whole backpacking trip. It has SO many more convenient features than other standard-issue "backpacking backpacks". You can attach a zillion things to the outside, the top is super accessible, the side zip access actually works, and I can already tell the overload feature will be helpful for lugging extra weird stuff around (photography equipment for out in the wilderness, extra stuff smooshed in there for checking on a plane, really anything). I think it's bananas they don't make 80L for women. If you're backpacking a long way solo, it's an annoying Tetris game to find stuff in a standard pack. Gimme room!

Comfortable and Very Adaptive Bag!
Overall a very durable and comfortable backpack allowing pretty serious flexibility in how you can carry things. The bag is very comfy with rigid and thick padding in the hip belt which sites nicely when the waist strap is cranked pretty tight. My average pack weights have been 50-70lbs and this makes them feel closer to 30-50 which is very impressive. The frame stays can basically mold to your pack which means items in overload are held snugly in place, I've carried sleeping pads, wool blankets, rifles, hard cases, winter (-20) rated insulation, cold weather clothing, firewood, and tents over long distances and this has been no problem. The ability to basically double the volume of the bag with overload is super versatile and for winter campers means that you can pack out adequate warmth without breaking your lumbar. Plus being able to carry pelican cases easily means less equipment liability and less of my supervisors being mad at me for dropping stuff off mountains. Material choice is a great blend of durable and lightweight however when compared to a friend's SATL I would much prefer the higher denier fabric on the mil packs. The SATL/Military buckles and clips are also much much higher quality and frankly MR should make them the defacto for all their bags as the weight difference is negligible in a fully loaded bag. Larger mil style clips/buckles are also easier to use with gloves in the winter. Main improvements for the bag could be: runners vest style soft bottle carriers on front harness, mil quality plastic components, and higher denier fabrics (500/mil cordura). If y'all could please make an 80-100L SATL style bag with overload then field exploration work wouldn't suck monkey nuts and my back would be saved. Highly recommend the terraframe, this bag has been an absolute pleasure to carry heavy items and provides a sense of load security that few bags can match. MR's implementation of overload is a killer feature (even against competing meat shelves) with how simple and efficient it is to set up and use.

Great for backpacking
I purchased this Terraframe 80 in the spring of '23 and used to on an 80+ mile backpacking trip through the mountains of New Mexico over the 4th of July week. This pack never failed me! I carried about 70 lbs for most of the trip and always had spare space. The pack was comfortable and I was able to balance the pack perfectly. The two long pockets were great for holding tent stakes, maps, and other odds and ends. The pack withstood rain, triple-digit heat, brushes with rocks, trees, and thorned bushes without issues or tears. The two side pockets were easy to reach with the pack on and more than big enough to hold my rain jacket, pack cover, and water bottle. The internal water bladder pocket easily held my 3-liter bladder with no excessive pressure or pinching. The two rows of webbing on the kidney pads held a small MOLLE pouch for easy access, on-the-go, snacks. I did not get a chance to use the expandable cargo space or the detachable daypack. Instead of the detachable daypack, I used a Mystery Ranch In-and-Out 19, which complemented the Terraframe 80 perfectly. The only thing I would add to this pack is a couple rows of webbing on each side of the pack to add extra external MOLLE pouches or straps to better secure long gear such as hiking poles or hatchets. However, this pack worked great for this trip and I can't wait to use it on future trips!

Terraframe 80 is the best all around pack
I bought this pack a few months ago in preparation for a through hike in the Bob Marshall. This will be my 3rd through hike and the most comfortable! I did not have shabby gear the first two times but this is an unbelievably comfortable pack. The storage it provides is versatile. We just took a trip from Montana to Nevada and I was able to fit it in the over head storage even on our small Montana connecting flights. I am now using the lid as a day pack as we hike around Nevada. I plan on making it double duty for hunting season and love the color for both hiking and hunting. Being able to separate the frame to attach quarters or a pack raft is awesome. The frame is very light and overall construction/ materials are durable. Thanks for the awesome pack and opportunity to make some fun new memories!

Amazing backpack. But one small thing
I've had this bag for almost a month and it's been amazing. I've been using this for backpacking and in the future I'll be doing some camping in the spring, the frame in minimalistic but strong and offers amazing stability. The overflow feature on the frame allows me to carry a one person tent which is perfect but it can be used for so much more. The only reason I'm not giving it a 5 out of 5 is its a little lacking when it comes to pockets on the inside for organization, But that's a small price to pay for the 77 liters of storage which has been perfect for my needs. Another amazing product mystery ranch keep it up!

Can I buy just the pack, I already have a Terra 65, or is not that much of a savings?
January 29, 2024
Is there a lid I can purchase that would be larger than the current one that comes with this pack that is also the same color? I love everything else about this pack but the daypack lid could be bigger.

I'm trying to figure out how the top pouch is supposed to be used. I've taken this pack on a long hike and loved it but want to know how the top can be used as a backpack or buttpack. Mine has two straps but no buckles attached to them.

Anyone successfully fly with this pack in the overhead bin? I know it's too big just going off dimensions, but I regularly fly with a 65L that's also technically "too big".

1. What are the dimension of the Terraframe 80? Is it: hight - width - depth or is it hight - depth - width? 2. What are the dimensions of the main (big) compartment? I need to know if my camera ICU would fit :-/ thanks

Is there a separate zippered bottom compartment in Terraframe 80? If yes, what kind of divider is there? How many zippered pockets are in the lid? Can the lid be used as a lumbar pack?
