A speed workouts best friend
I have not had this much fun in a pair of running shoes in a long time. Though you may see other uses for it, like walking or basic workouts, this shoe literally “comes alive” upon hitting a certain fast paces on your runs. When I’ve hit burst sprints, I am not sure if it’s in my head, but the fuel cell reacts to how much energy you are able/willing to put down on the ground, propelling you like a rocket. I love a lot of the carbon plated nb shoes, as well as the fresh foam, but there is something about this lightweight package and no carbon plate that makes it my go to short to mid range mile eater. Keep it up New Balance team!

Bring back v3!!!
I never tried the Fuel Cell Rebel v1 or v2, but the v3 was the first running shoe I’ve loved in about eight years. I was so relieved to find it! It’s become an all-time favorite: fast, nimble, not too firm or soft, good for daily training, and legitimately lasts 100-200 miles longer than any shoe I’ve ever worn! I just ran my first 5 miles in the v4 and I’m SO disappointed!! It has a higher stack height and the sole is about a centimeter wider under the forefoot than the v3. I felt like I was tripping over my own feet. Most of the extra width is in the sole, but the upper is a little wider, too. My feet are average width—wider at the forefoot and more narrow in the heel. The v3 fit like an absolute glove. The v4 feel overgrown and sloppy like every other shoe out there right now. I’m OVER this era of huge soles on running shoes. I’ll find a shoe that I like, then the company copies other brands by beefing up the sole on the next version—sending me back to the drawing board to find a new brand/model. Somebody please make it stop!!! 😢

This shoe just feels fast!
Great shoe for running fast with lightweight profile and springy sole. I have worn all 4 versions of the Rebel to this point and really like the improvements made to the sole. However, I find the upper to be stiff and flimsy. I usually wear wide shoes and the wide version of this shoe is extremely wide.

Love them !
So far i have used the shoes for marathon prep, mainly focussing on tempo / intervals - really impressed. They are very responsive but still with the right amount of cushioning. Great shoes!!!

Would Buy Again
Much better fit, flexibility, and drive compared to the brooks Hyperion. I've already ran over a marathon in these and they feel great.

Very nice but not likely my go-to trainer
Very well cushioned but lacking structure. Despite being nearly identical to the Super Comp trainer, I prefer the Super Comp as an everyday shoe because the carbon energy arc provides substantially more support and rebound.

Perfect amount of squish and stability
Long time user of the 1080’s across several generations but wanted to give these a try honestly based on looks, but thankfully pleasantly surprised that they are still nice and squishy but also stable. To compare - they are stiffer than the 1080’s but not by a ton and not noticeable in a negative way. The uppers are stable but thin which will be nice for the summer.
