Why We Like The Lyngen Down850 Hooded Jacket
Light on weight, not on warmth, the Norrona Lyngen Down 850 Hooded Jacket boasts the best warmth-to-weight ratio in Norrona's midlayer line. Packed with 850-fill power down, it has the ability to trap body heat at an exceptionally light weight while remaining packable enough for even the most space-conscious backcountry goers. When days stay cold, the lack of bulky insulation makes this a perfect piece for trapping some quick extra warmth without pulling that shell out of your pack.

Great but leaks feathers
- Familiarity:

Bought this about three weeks ago. Very warm and comfortable, but it leaks a fair number of feathers and I find I really can’t wear it over dark clothes. Otherwise no complaints at all.

Great in every way, but too slim for me.

This jacket is really well made, has vivid and handsome colors true to the photos, and is every bit as warm as advertised. I can't imagine ever wearing more than a light base layer underneath this for any temperature above 15F. It pains me to say I'll be sending this back, because the fit through the waist is just too slim for me. I zip it without issue and can rotate freely, but it's just too "on" for my taste, which speaks only to my preferences, not the garment. For reference, I'm currently 5'10", 190 lbs, with a 33" waist, size L in most shirts, sweaters, and jackets. Yes, I'd like to drop a dime, and will by spring, but I'm 55 years old and odds are I'll dwell somewhere close to this silhouette the rest of my days. Dangit! Might just try the XL, but I'd likely pay for the middle expansion with floppy sleeves. "What a drag it is getting old."

nice jacket

This jacket looks great on you and the colors are some of the most interesting available in insulated jackets. The coat is athletic fit, not regular as the specs say. The coat is warm for its extremely light weight and has large, adequate pockets and a snug hood. This jacket is one of the few that I paid full price for from the manufacturer, I liked the green color so much. It reminds me a bit of a lighter-weight version of Feathered Friends? (Seattle) Eos jacket, which has the best warmth to weight ratio of any coat. Recommended.

all fits perfectly with this jacket, extremely warm in cold weather, tried in a -1c temperature with just a t-shirt under, and the warmth was just shoking, dits true to size, extremely recommended.

Throw this on and it feels like you're wrapped in a puffy cloud. While I have the Large, which is great for throwing over the shell, I would definitely get a medium for proper laying under the shell. The Indigo Night/Lemon Chrome looks great as well. Haven't put this through the wringer yet, but have worn it quite a few times on cool mornings, and it keeps me plenty warm. Soft, warm, (feels) durable, and should be great for the upcoming winter.

Warm, but not hot, athletic fitting, lighter than light. My spouse loved hers with equal force. Buy this coat!
