I'm very impressed with this company! (First-time buyer.) This NRS Class V White water life jacket arrived less than 48 hours after I ordered it, and the shipping was FREE!! The price was phenomenal, the best I've seen on this model. Communication was fantastic! I received several emails updating me on the progress of my order - from it being packed and shipped to it's arrival. I've been a private white water rafter for nearly 30 years and have owned tons of equipment and many brands and styles of life jackets. My friends and I constantly compare our things. We're not "gearheads" but do strive to get the best of best when it comes to our safety. This jacket definitely fits that bill. I highly recommend Backcountry.com and this NRS life preserver! Fit-wise, this jacket is very adjustable. After reading another review I thought I should add that I'm a 5'11" male with a slim-medium build and typically wear size Large shirts. The jacket would easily size down to at least a mid-small person, and up to at least XL - it says 30" to 52" chest. (NRS makes a Plus-size jacket for bigger people). One thing I'll need to get used to is the padding/flotation material on the chest - it's 2.75" thick. It's well shaped and does not interfere with my ability to row, but it is thicker than I'm used to. But hey, I want that much floatation in a vest and since it has to go somewhere the chest is where I want it. The back padding/flotation material is only about .75" thick (as is the head flap) so it's easy to lean against gear or sit in a chair.

This jack will float most every adult, it's extremely well made, offers a customizing fit and is perfect for high back chairs on a sit on top kayak. I didnt like the yellow color because it was more of a bright mustard color even though yellow is better for visual response, I purchased the orange and it it a bright but pleasing color. I can't say enough good things about this vest! I am 5'7 165 lbs. and female The jacket is tall/long so if you are very short and thin you may want to try on the child's size but make sure you fall within the weight limits. I did purchase the optional leg straps for rough water use, this is the best jacket I have owned and as a very active 63 year old I have owned many in my lifetime. Mine is the universal fit but they make one that I think goes up to 58" for the bigger framed folks.
