Hyperfreak Comp 3/2 Zipless Full Wetsuit
You've never been a big fan of zippers. All of your jackets have buttons, your tent is just a tarp and a couple of poles, and your wetsuit—well your wetsuit is the O'Neill Hyperfreak Comp 3/2 Zipless Full Wetsuit. Designed with an innovative zipperless design, this wetsuit still offers all of the performance and ease of a standard chest-zip or back-zip suit. A simple pull-on system combined with a 360º barrier, drain holes, and a tight cinch-cord creates a watertight seal to keep chilly waters where they belong. O'Neill's Technobutter 3 neoprene is lightweight, strong, and super-warm to ensure that your performance won't slow down in cold swells. GBS seams provide a durable seal against cool ocean water, and an external key loop pocket offers secure storage for a car or house key.

O'Neill-O'Neill Hyperfreak Comp 3/2 Zip
- Familiarity:
- I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
- Size Bought:
- MS
The seams on this suit had no integrity, (I assume it was at least a couple of years old but was sold as “new”). As soon as I got in the water it just flooded like I had nothing on…O’Neill quality has always been good so was surprised; I called and got a return authorization so sent it back but still haven’t gotten a refund, (said they’d give me store credit but haven’t gotten that either)…very disappointed w the whole transaction…should have gone to the manufacturer direct so at least could have filed a warranty claim

Stretchy, but falls apart immediately!

First off, let me start by saying I own a s#@t ton of wetsuits, as I've been surfing for several decades and like to have suits for every possible temperature and a spare so I always have a dry one for that 2nd session. I used to love O'neill wetsuits, but found them to fall apart to easily after they came out with the Zen in the 90's. Lately, I've been almost exclusively wearing Xcel's upper end suits which are great. I've had Rip Curls, Body Gloves, Hurleys and even a terrible fitting Billabong (Built-em-wrong). I decided to try an O'neill fullsuit again only after hearing and feeling the incredible stretch of their technobutter neoprene. Sadly, this super-stretchy suit started to literally unravel between the 2nd and 3rd surf. I kid you not! I mean my old O'neill Zen zip lost its ability to stay closed in a month or so, based on a horrible Velcro only closure, but this Hyperfreak suit falling apart after 2 surfs was ridiculous! I didn't even bother to send it in to O'neill after my experience with their horrendous customer service decades ago and my apathy, since I had many back up suits. I just went back to my Xcel suits and called it a day. I do plan to pay to have the neck sewn up and will use the suit again to see if I just got a lemon/ or a second quality from Bakcountry, as I wouldn't put it past them. Their low price guarantee is anything but...

I recommend the chest zip instead of the zipless. I had a few different thicknesses in the zipless construction. The cord that tightens it fell apart within a few weeks on all of them.
