Why We Like The Oboz Katabatic Low Hiking Shoe
We like Oboz's new Katabatic Low Hiking Shoe for its cross-over appeal. It's lighter and more breathable than a traditional leather hiking shoe, making the Katabatic a good match for our fast hikes, travels, and everyday performance at work or play. Those O-Fit insoles add cushioning and support where so many shoes skimp, giving us all-day comfort on and off the trail.

So comfy!

These shoes are super comfortable, and fit great! They've instantly become my light hikers and I also really like that they look so good I can wear them around town. The tread on these things is what impresses me most as they are super grippy on wet slippery rocks and offer great traction in all conditions. Couldn't be happier with these shoes!

To say I was not impressed with these shoes would be an understatement. While these are definitely Oboz normal fit and potential comfort, with a comfortable and cushiony midsole, the lack of arch support in these is awful and not the norm I'm used to with Oboz. These are likely only suitable for people with very flat feet. If you have mid or high arches, you will be disappointed by the gap left in your arch and risk causing yourself foot problems, particularly if you have any sort of proclivity towards foot challenges like Plantar fasciitis. What's worse is these lack sufficient vertical interior volume to utilize even a thin aftermarket insole to provide necessary arch support, at least not without pushing your feet way too far into the shoe top for comfort. Oboz seriously needs to go back to the drawing board on this shoe, they're a major disappointment in general, but particularly for such an expensive shoe.
