A sad replacement for the Sawtooth 2

The Sawtooth X is an... adequate?... shoe, but definitely in no way a great shoe. They're not in the same league as the shoe they replaced: the Sawtooth 2 - which was truly great. They're heavier, less well-ventilated - so hotter, narrower - even as a wide, the tread is less aggressive, and Oboz went with flat laces going through holes instead of round laces going through webbing loops so they're hard to tie properly. They're almost a parody of a light hiking shoe - made more for running errands or strolling garden paths than for actual hiking trails.

I need wide in Oboz, so bought these to replace the old Sawtooths that I have had several pair of and loved. These are dogs. Not even close to the old style. Sort of a clunky street shoe is my take. Old Sawtooths were my favorite shoe. These new ones suck!

This is the shoe for you if you love the wide fit of the older Sawtooth II. Fits great and definitely roomier compared to the standard version of this shoe. They come with a nice supportive and cushioned insole that provides a ton of comfort. They fit great out of the box, breathe really well, and have a super grippy rubber tread. The quality is great and if these are anything like mine I'd bet on them lasting forever!
