Why We Like The Optimus Polaris Optifuel

The Optimus Polaris Optifuel raises the bar for all other camping stoves because of its insane versatility and ease of use. We don't fret if we only packed one type of fuelthe Polaris Optifuel offers one-jet cooking performance with both LPG gas canisters and liquid gas (kerosene, diesel, jet fuel, and white fuel). This stove features a patented quick-priming burner that cuts down on pre-heating time and boils water in just four minutes, and comes with an integrated magnetic cleaning needle that we use to quickly clean the stove, even while cooking. If nasty weather rolls in, we set up the heat reflector windscreen, flip the LPG canister upside down, and engage 4-season mode to increase the heat output, so we can boil water, even in rapidly dropping temps. When the cooking is done, the self-purging FLIPSTOP pump safely clears the burner of fuel and depressurizes the fuel bottle, permitting us to safely dismantle it before loading it back in the included stuff bag.

-30C No Problem, Clean and reliable

Ease of use, Always started up, No leaks or fuel spills. I used the pot with the fins on the bottom and I was boiling water over twice as fast as the guys using jetboils in cold and warmer temps. The burner fit in the Xpress HE pot no problem. Oh just one thing. Dump the bendable heat shield and get a fold-able rigid heat/wind blocker. Makes life easier in windy and deep snow areas.

Great design simple to operate

The Optimus Polaris will run on white gas or any size of fuel canisters. Also, one jet any fuel allows you to burn white gas, gasoline, kerosene or diesel if you’re in a pinch. Where this stove can really shine is the 4 season mode with a canister. I like the tool that allows you to service the stove if needed. Furthermore, the tool is magnetic and cleans the burner jet while cooking if required. It also comes with a heat reflector and a windscreen for better performance and efficiency. This stove is a plug and get cooking type of stove. I would recommend this stove for single or group adventures.

Versatile workhorse of a stove

The Optifuel stove puts out the heat. The regulator provides ultimate control from a low simmer to max BTUs. Being able to use this stove with isopropane and liquid fuels is a huge advantage. Used the stove for the first time on an adventure that started out warm and then later snowed during the trip. Used the stove to cook for 4 and had no problems.

Still working

I have used the stove for a few years now and it always works. It's a flawless piece of machinery. I use medium pots for most of my cooking and it a perfect fit for the stove.

Well made, versatile and easy to use

I can't think of anything I don't like about this stove. It's easy to set up, can use just about any fuel, and it's more compact than other stoves I own. Highly recommended.

Great stove.

I had a little trouble getting it it start and stay lit with canister fuel when new. Once I used it a couple times, it works like a champ. I've found it best to start with the canister right-side-up, then invert (if needed).

Great stove

I got this stove because I wanted a reliable stove that I never had to worry about finding fuel for. For that purpose it is great. The flame controls work well, it cooks well, and it boils water fast. However, if I know you I can get fuel canisters and it's going to be warm, it's hard for me to recommend bringing this over a tiny canister stove because they are so much lighter and smaller (environmental impact of tough to recycle single use fuel canisters aside).

Versatile System

Being able to use any fuel available is a really nice feature to have, and not have to change jets to do it. I live in Alaska, I might not have a store with gas canisters in stock anywhere nearby. But there will always be diesel, gasoline, or white gas/kerosene etc available guaranteed. Given that it is multi-fuel compatible without a jet change, it's probably not as fuel efficient as other brands. BUT, I've cooked for approximately 5 hours continuously using gasoline in the bottle it came with and still had fuel left. You can boil a LOT of water with 5 hours worth minimum of liquid fuel. Being able to clean the jet without moving the system, while it's cooking... is also cool. It all fits (minus the fuel bottle) in a 1600ml pot, so it's fairly space efficient. It's extremely easy to use, the bottle doesn't leak, and it cooks really well. I carry the bottle of liquid fuel and a gas canister with me as a backup, and feel very confident with this system in the backcountry.
