Thankfully I was able to find this jacket on a huge discount in my size. Which is my first point which I've often mentioned in my reviews. Ortovox size chart is often way off. I'm 6'1" and 172lbs, athletic build and the large fits me perfectly. If I had gone by the Ortovox size chart; (they recommended a medium) and it wouldn't have fit. This jacket has so many features it's hard to say what I love the most. First all the pockets. There are so many pockets including some that a merino lined to protect your phone or water filter. The jacket is fully lined with 100% merino wool but that said it's a pretty thin layer. You'll still need various base layers depending on the conditions. I love the removable powder skirt and the dual adjustable hood. Works great with my MSA Xr2 technical rescue helmet. The jacket has Pitt zips and pretty much is fully loaded and from what I can tell and others have told me it's bomb proof. The craftsmanship is just unbelievable! My only gripe with Ortovox gear is their outrageous prices but if you're patient you can find this jacket at at least 60% off. The jacket is perfect for any skiing, free riding, long distance winter hiking etc. It's water and windproof. I wrote " runs small" but it really will depend on your body shape, for example I have long arms and torso. I have worn Ortovox gear for years and sometimes a medium will fit, other times I need a large. Just be prepared to possibly need to exchange for a different size.
