Why We Like The Ortovox Swisswool Piz Boe Jacket
When fresh snow in the backcountry is calling our name we zip-up the Ortovox Swisswool Piz Boe Jacket and head to the trailhead. On the uphill this jacket handles snags and abrasion while fighting off blustery winds. We especially like the stretch underarm panels that pull moisture and heat off of our body to keep us comfortable. When we finally get to the summit we slip our trusty shell over the top and drop in to a pow filled lap.

Good lightweight jacket
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
- Size Bought:
- Large
- Height:
- 6' 1"
- Weight:
- 170
As the other review pointed out, the main zipper is small but I've never had any issues and it's been through thousands of miles. Plus In my experience many lightweight puffy jackets have very small zippers that are worse than this one. I love ortovox gear but their prices are ridiculous.. that said, if you wait you can find great deals. I got this jacket new for 70 bucks! Their retail prices imo are crazy! Congrats to those that can afford them.. but for me I've always had to look for deals. This jacket is super ul, size large and about 10ozs. Also, I think they made various improvements this year and most ortovox gear comes with at least a 2 year warranty and in many cases 5 years to lifetime. I love the big pockets on this jacket and how comfortable it is.. it does run small.. I usually wear a large but this is very tight in the arms and shoulders..(6'1 170lbs athletic build) if you can find it on sale, it's definitely a great option for a Ul jacket.

DON'T BUY THIS JACKET!
- Familiarity:
- I've used it several times
- Size Bought:
- XL
- Height:
- 6' 2"
- Weight:
- 195
I bought two of these jackets a couple of years ago. Barely worn either. The zippers on these expensive technical jackets are flimsy and prone to breakage. Ortovox, a European Manufacturer won't accept returns except through Backcountry and Backcountry will tell you that you must return the product directly to Ortovox. When I complained, they told me the jacket was "out of warranty" without examining the jacket (I sent photos). Don't waste your money on a technical jacket that is prone to failure because of poor construction and cheap materials. The jacket was great but the zipper was the cheapest that I have ever seen on a technical piece of gear. Not worth the risk!
